For the first two months of Tom Petty & the
Heartbreakers’ 40th Anniversary tour, Joe Walsh has opened nearly
every show, so the mood was bittersweet last Friday at the Prudential
Center in
Newark, NJ as it was the last night out with the legendary Eagles
guitarist,
his incredible band and amazing crew.
“Welcome to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ 40th
Anniversary tour,” Walsh said as his nine-piece band took the stage for
their
final time in Newark, “with special guest, me.”
Joe’s laid-back vibe and great show have made for an
incredible pairing to start the 40th Anniversary tour. His fans
always made it in early to fill up the rooms for his opening sets, and
hearing songs
like “Ordinary Average Guy,” “In the City,” “Funk #49,” and “Rocky Mountain
Way” to get things started every night has been a blast.
