So many of the memorable moments on Heartbreakers' tours happen onstage, but it was a special visitor the band met just before they went on at the sold-out Haifax Metro Center that won't soon be forgotten.

Adam Keys has been a fan of the band for as long as he can remember. Growing up in Whitehall, PA, he and best friend - Jesse Reed - caught a few Heartbreakers shows together over the years. Thursday night was his fourth show; he'd seen them twice in Camden, NJ and once in Madison Square Garden.

On July 14, 2010, Adam - an Army Specialist in the 618th Engineer Company - was injured when his vehicle was hit by a large IED in southern Afghanistan. He was the sole survivor in the five-person patrol, but sustained severe injuries that required the amputation of an arm and both legs. Unfortunately, Adam's loss didn't end there that day. Reed - his childhood friend who enlisted with Adam in 2009 - was one of the soldiers that died in the incident.

After 15 months recovering at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Adam transferred into outpatient care earlier this year and is already learning to walk on prosthetic legs. In Haifax to attend his grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary, Adam found out the Heartbreakers were in town and bought a ticket. After hearing about his story, Tom and the guys invited Adam and his family to visit backstage before the show. After all the pictures were snapped and the last autograph inked, Adam leaned over to Tom.

"You guys are freaking awesome," he gushed as only a true fan can. "I'll remember tonight for a long, long time and can't thank you enough."

"You're the awesome one, Adam. We're just a bunch of guitar players," Tom said with a grin. "We're so honored to have you here with us tonight."

Normally in these reviews, we comment on special songs or particular moments during the show, and there were plenty in Halifax: a stunning "The Best of Everything," the return of "Oh Well" and a phenomenal "Crawling Back To You," to name just a few.

But the memory of Halifax will be the look on Adam's face sitting side stage when the house lights came up after "American Girl," as the band made their exit to the cheers of 10,000-plus screaming Nova Scotians.

"That was incredible!"

It doesn't matter what songs you guys play next week, I love them all, but (hint, hint) Honeybee must rock pretty hard live and Free Girl is practically an anthem!

I have been a fan since I was old enough to listen to music, you Tom Petty are one of the great ones! this will be my second time seeing TP&H in August of 2010 I was lucky enough to be in the 15th row at the ACC in Toronto, now to see you again next week in Halifax in 4th ROW will be amazing a dream come through once again! I would love to hear WALLS or TIME TO MOVE ON....Thank you for coming to Atlantic Canada, we love you!!!!

I can live without 'Breakdown' and I can understand you are probably tired of playing it..but how about this one? So many gems on the current set list - I have been waiting for this show for a long time. 'You're Gonna Get It' was one of the first records I ever bought with my very own money. Love you guys - can't wait!

Hey Hearbreakers; Welcome to Canada. We'd love to hear Swingin. One of your best. Ben's piano is understated perfection. Give it some thought. Thanks.

BarryMacNeil - 10 February, 2012 The Waiting Man we are really getting some great bands in our area now!!! Hope they play The Waiting on this tour. I don't think they have a weak tune but that one is one of my favorites. Can't wait! -- Agreed. Unfortunately, the Maritimes was not a stop for most bands (good bands) in the 80's ... while LA, New York, Toronto, etc were getting live versions of The Waiting (and so many othere great Petty songs), dedicated fans in the maritimes had radio, vinyl and tapes to hear such songs. Please - The Waiting to the Halifax setlist! :)

I've listened to your music since high school in the late 70's, university in the early 80's and have every album. I have been following the first shows of your 2012 tour and am happy to see that you are playing some "deep cuts" from some of your early albums. This is my first TPATH concert (Halifax) and I am hoping that you will play Something Big from the Hard Promises album. I kinda feel for that Speedball character. The concert is one month away, I have 3rd row seats and I'm "workin on something big". In high anticipation

I haven't heard or seen anything yet about who will open up for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers in Halifax (or even all Canadian dates), but I think an AMAZING opening band would be THE SHEEPDOGS!!! I've seen them both open for K.o.L. in MTL in October and headline in Moncton, NB in less than a 3 month span! All I can say is that they have probably the best sound I've heard in a while. Weather it be the Bell Centre or a small club, they sound AMAZING!! Also, I think it would be really cool to have a great homegrown Canadian Band open up for a true legend when he tours Atlantic Canada for the very first time!!!

Just a note on the comment below about scalpers. I noticed that there were 2 front row Halifax seats available for $1000 each. The ad was posted on Kijiji before the pre-sale even started. I emailed the person asking how did they get tickets before Highway Companion Club members like me could via the pre-sale. Also asked them to send their email confirmation of their ticket purchase. as Phil Collins says "No reply at all". Beware, sounds like a scam. If in doubt, ask them to send confirmation of their purchase and, if you are local, to meet them in person for the exchange. In any event, I will enjoy the section 50 tickets that I scored at the pre-sale.

does anyone know who the special guest is, that is listed on the ticket ?

How Awesome Would it be to have the Sheepdogs (Home Grown Canadian Band) Open for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers in Halifax .... WOW

Check out this link http://ledge.fleetwoodmac.net/showthread.php?t=26668 Hopefully Halifax will do something similar because there are already a bunch of tickets on kijiji

This was my first ever presale and I was logged on at 10am and all set to buy 4 floor seats. No seats came up at first and then some upper bowl seats. I got worried about 8 minutes in and reduced my amount of tickets to 2 and got 2 great seats front and center in section 51, row 5. After I completed the order I tried again and got 2 more in section 53, row 5. I am just happy to have seats but it would have been a lot less stressful if I had just able to get my 4 seats right away. If the presale starts at 10am, all the seats should be available for purchase at 10am though.

Whoever scored front row seats (possibly via this fan club) is trying to sell them locally on a classified ads site - trying to scalp them for a thousand dollars each. Nice.

Picked some up last night after they increased the presale tickets. Thank You and See you at the show. Cheers,

I was on kijiji when an ad popped up for a link to a second show added on Tuesday, May 29th. Followed the link to the Ticket Atlantic website, put two awesome seats in my shopping cart and then when I tried to check out, I got a screen that said I had already purchased the maximum number of seats for the Tuesday performance! When I tried again, the link was dead, and when I checked kijiji again, the ad was gone. What's going on here, Tom Petty/Ticket Atlantic?

Not sure I got the greatest seats for the Halifax show but this is my third time seeing TP. Had great seats in Winnipeg so I can't complain!!! If it's your first time seeing the band, expect an awesome show!

I could not get two tickets anywhere at about two minutes after presale opened. This was a major disappointment.
