Every fan should get to stand behind Mike Campbell while he plays “I Should Have Known It.”
I found myself behind the Heartbreakers co-captain and lead guitarist’s amp line Friday night at Dallas’ American Airlines Center just as Mike tore into the blistering opening riff of the Mojo standout.
Mike is well-known as Tom’s songwriting and producing partner, but he’s also one of the great, great rock ‘n roll guitar players of all time, skilled on a multitude of instruments, creative in the sounds he gets and tasteful in always playing what the song needs.
On “I Should Have Known It,” Mike is unleashed, his fingers running up and down the fret board of his sunburst Gibson Les Paul before slamming back into the rest of the band for culminating riff.
