Around 4 pm every show day, Steve Winwood and his band sound check onstage.
Some days, they work on songs for their set; other days, they just jam.
Whether it’s material from Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith or his solo career, Winwood’s opening set has been outstanding every night and warmed up the crowd perfectly for the Heartbreakers. In Winnipeg, “Dear Mr. Fantasy” was the highlight of their hour-long set, with Winwood taking two blistering extended guitar solos that brought the Canadian crowd to its feet.
