Tavis Smiley Show Recap

Frontman and songwriter for The Heartbreakers rock band, Tom Petty has also enjoyed success as a solo artist. He hosts his own XM Radio show, on which he shares tracks from his personal record collection, and has made appearances in movies and on TV shows, including The Simpsons. Born and raised in Florida, Petty began playing music in high school and later moved to Los Angeles in search of a recording contract. He's a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and recipient of the Billboard Century Award for his lifetime achievements.

Enjoyed the interview
Really liked Tom in this interview. I can not believe he is going to turn 60! I hope I look as good as he does. I really liked how he talked highly of his band and how talented muscially they all are! Wish Tom Petty and his band would play in Portland,Oregon some time!

Turning 50 here in G-ville taking your music old to new to heart. Enjoyed You and the Breakers @ the O-dome after a long wait w/ the perfect view straight away up top soaking it all in. The whole body of the show will stay w/ me till the end. Keep on truck'in my friend from an O-towner before the Mouse got there. Fla. needs some relief before the OIL gets here. Those Damn Greedy Bastards.

Nearly half a century ago, Duane La Fleche proposed in his weekly column in the Albany Times Union that the New York Philharmonic eschew an offer to make its summer residence in Stowe, Vermont and instead set up shop in Saratoga Springs. “It seems very wrong,” La Fleche wrote, “that a New York orchestra should have to look outside the State for a summer residence. Wouldn’t the State Reservation at Saratoga Springs make a nice location?”
