Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are pleased to announce that they will
headline the first night of the 2012 Isle of Wight Festival on Friday, June
22.
The band's performance at the legendary UK festival is their first
announced concert in 2012 and will be their first major European show in
20 years.
The Isle of Wight Festival is one of the most prestigious events in rock
'n roll. In the late 1960s the festival drew large crowds to the beautiful
island to see acts such as Bob Dylan and The Who. The 1970 edition of the
festival was the UK's answer to Woodstock and at the time was the largest
rock concert to ever take place worldwide. The bill included Jimi Hendrix,
The Doors, and Sly and The Family Stone.
In 2012 Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will headline the Isle Of Wight
mainstage on Friday night and Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will
headline the Sunday night. A very exciting additional headliner for
Saturday night will be announced soon.

Please don't just come to the UK to do the festival. Please make it worth your while and do other UK gigs or even a European tour. I came to see you in Chicago and you were awesome. The best gig ever. I have been a fan since you first started out.You have left it too long so come and see us in the UK. xx

Just finally replaced all of my TP CD's lost in Katrina. Really upset I missed going to any of the 2011 tour. Told my husband if you tour again we will be there - sort of a bucket list! Don't wait too long, getting up there in age but hey 60 is still young if you haven't grown up!

Oh god I'm so excited that Tom will be in the UK in June ! I can;t do the IOW festival but am hoping that Tom will do a few more dates whilst he is here ! Please say that he will !!!! I'm with Snapper.....don't just play the Isle Of Wight....nice as it is! Cardiff has got the brilliant Millenium Stadium as well as an Arena you would love to come and play at I'm sure. Even better, just down the road is Swansea and the wonderful Liberty Stadium. Come on Tom....there'd be a great welcome for you in these Welsh hillsides!!!!!

I was at the very front of the stage 20 years ago wearing my TP hat. Tom winked at me as he started to sing 'don't come around here no more' .its a long way from the North East of Scotland to the Isle if Wight but if I need to start walking now, I will! Please do more shows in the UK we have missed you so much.
