The Heartbreakers landmark 1979 Album is re-released today as an expanded and remastered edition featuring previously unreleased tracks from the Damn The Torpedoes sessions. The Deluxe Edition is available with a choice of four formats: (1) on two-CDs, (2) on one audiophile quality Blu-ray disc, (3) on 2 180-gram vinyl LPs and (4) as an iTunes LP.
All formats of the Deluxe Edition come with nine additional bonus tracks not included on the original album. Seven of these tracks are previously unreleased including two studio tracks from the original Damn The Torpedoes sessions: âNowhereâ and âSurrender.â
The never-before-heard âNowhereâ was thought to have been lost in 1979 when the tape boxes were being moved daily to avoid the possibility that court bailiffs would claim them as part of Pettyâs assets in the lawsuit at the time. The original 1979 recording of âSurrenderâ is also included on the bonus disc. âSurrenderâ was a mainstay of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakersâ concert setlists for many years although this original studio version recorded for Damn The Torpedoes, which includes Stan Lynch on drums, never saw the light of day until now.
Also included on the bonus disc is the original demo for the B-side âCasa Degaâ and an alternate take of âRefugeeâ as well as a trio of live performances at Londonâs Hammersmith Odeon (March 6, 1980), including âDonât Do Me Like That.â
Digitally remastered from the original analog master tapes, all formats of Damn The Torpedoes â Deluxe Edition also feature liner notes by noted rock journalist/author David Fricke, rare photos, and lyrics to each track.
The vinyl and Blu-ray versions of the Deluxe Edition also include a free download of the entire album in one of three high quality digital formats.

Surrender - Not Previously Released?
According to the track listing for the bonus CD, "Surrender" has not previously been released.
However, "Surrender" was included in the "Anthology: Through The Years" CD collection, disc 2, track 17.
Is this a different version, or........?

I finally received an email from Push Entertainment which stated that the download was US only.
They also say that this is a specific term of the rights of the artist and materials.
wtf? Finally had to use a free US proxy tio get the download.

I got the same problem and found the solution. The web site checks the country. Use a free US proxy and configure your browser accordingly.

Have patience, the proxys are not the fastest. But the downloads went really fast. Hope it helps

Just got the BR of DTT in from Amazon, shipped into Australia
Went to download my ipod version.
And got the âpushâ to pushentertainment. I thought it was because I was in Australia and it was some stupid region thing, until I came to this site AND SAW IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SUBSISTING FOR OVER 2 WEEKS
What the Fck is going on here? Why is there no-one to contact. This is ridiculous from an artist who is as fan friendly as TP. Guess this site is run by the record company, and we know how fan friendly they are, and what has happened to them as a result

Where is the download link for us customers who bought the blu-ray of DTT? If I type in the web address from the enclosed download card, it takes me to Push Entertainment. I see words on the TP DTT mini site for downloading, but there is no working link.

Yes, I've been having the same problem as Bootham. I got my blu-ray disc a few days ago and so far can't find any valid link on the TP website and entering the web address given on the unique code insert always takes me to Push Entertainment. Someone please reply with some help.
flac disc 1 issue resolved
I submitted an email on 13 Nov about the corrupt zip file and got a response on 15 Nov from Barbara at Live Nation Merchandise saying she forwarded it to her manager for review. I never got a follow-up, but on 21 Nov I decided to check the downloads again and found that they replaced the disc 1 zip file with the 9 individual flac files. I have successfully downloaded and they seem to play ok.

Looks like the CD1 corruption problem has been solved. Go to the download section and you will see flacs for each of the 9 tracks from CD1.

I'm having the same problem with disc 1. Anybody have an update on this? I only bought the Blu-ray for the FLAC download, so I really would like to get a good download of disc 1. Disc 2 sound awesome!
Great music - BUT...
The CD is everything that I wanted. Unfortunately by putting in their anti-pirating DMA it has kept me from putting it on my ipod which is how I listen to my music. Why bother buying music that you can't listen to? And you wonder why the music industry is hurting?
This is more destructive than the price gouging!
FLAC Disc 1 corrupt
Love the Blu-Ray disc! I downloaded my FLAC files. Disc 2 is fine and sounds great, but I've downloaded Disc 1 many times, and I can't open it. It appears to be corrupt! Any suggestions?

Multiple users are reporting a corrupted DISC 1 FLAC file after multiple attempts to download the file.
"When trying to open the zip file, I get an error. Upon closer examination, it appears the MD5 file for track 1_9_USMC17909365.flac is bad.
I've downloaded the disc1.zip file twice and get the same error on both copies."
Please check the master files on your server because there appears to be a corrupted file.

Having been a huge fan of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers for all of their career and owning pretty much everything they've done, this is the seminal album. I've heard this album in every format and re-issue. If you are a big fan, and own a Blu-Ray player/Audio System capable of playing the DTS HD High Resolution Audio 48/24, Buy It!!! I applaud Tom & Company for caring enough to give us such a great album, handled with care, and served up in the highest quality consumers can currently play. This is hearing what the masters sounded like and probably better after mastering with today's technology. After the mp3 generation,there are is still people that want to savor their music like fine wine. Cheers, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, now please could you give us Wildflowers next, just asking. DTT is absolutely FANTASTIC! I bought the deluxe package yesterday and just finished listening to the first CD (DTT). I am thoroughly excited with what I have heard so far! The difference in the quality of the sound and vocals is absolutely remarkable. The vocals seem to have a very subtle harmonious blend (or whatever the term) and the music seems to have so much more texture/layers. I love both versions. I am excited to hear the second Deluxe CD. Thank you so much for including Surrender, Its Raining Again, and Something Else in this package, along with the others. I am looking forward to hearing NowhereÂÂ (a new song to learn and master). So, on that note, bye for now and thank you for the great music. :)
