Tour openers can be anxious occasions, but you'd never have guessed it had you been at Colorado's 1st Bank Center Wednesday night for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' first show of their 2012 Tour.
Tom and the band strode on stage just after 9 pm to a standing ovation from the relatively intimate 6,500-seat-capacity arena and promptly ripped into "Listen to Her Heart," the first song in a nearly two-and-a-half hour show that found the rock legends covering material from throughout their storied career.
Mixing old classics like "Here Comes My Girl" and "I Won't Back Down" with rarities like "Something Big" off Hard Promises and "Spike" off Southern Accents, Tom and the guys were on top of their game and having a great time digging deep into their catalogue to the great pleasure of the fans at 1st Bank. Not to be left out, the band rocked four songs off Mojo, the highlight of which was the sublime "Something Good Comin'" that had the crowd standing in stunned silence.
Night two at 1st Bank is up next, and then we head east to Little Rock!

mojo part 2 opening night
Well we drove 917 miles each way to catch this show and it was worth every mile. There were four of us in our crew and we drove from Missoula mt to broomfield co in a 99 Hyundai accent. We had a blast. At the concert we were awed once again by the performance we got. We are veteran tphb tour fans and we are always blown away by the shows we are given. And what rare treats in the set list. Have love will travel, spike, something big. What a show and we cannot wait til next Ike.
Wish I Had Been There
Couldn't manage to hook up with these shows. All too far from the Northeast for me at this time. Big TPATH and Traveling Willburys fan for many years. And for all those not into the music of Regina Spektor, who opened for Tom on this tour because she loves his music, and who has been involved with Petty Fest for years in NYC ... You don't know how much of a talented and extraordinary songwriter that girl is. She took precious time out from her own US and world tour which is already under way to take a back seat to TPATH and show her unselfish support of this tour. I will be seeing her in another sold out concert soon for the third time this year. Just sayin. Love ya, Tom and the guys!
Thanks for sharing!
Very nice pictures, and great song list!!! Can't wait to see all of you in May!!! Best wishes always!!! Love, Peace and over and out.

GREAT SHOW and I ? Regina too!
I forgot to mention in my earlier comment that I am so happy Regina Spektor is opening for you guys on this tour. TPAHB is my ALL TIME favorite!!!! But I absolutely love Regina Spektor and have been listening to her for years now... I've seen her live several times before this tour. So Regina, if you ever read these comments - don't let the haters get you down - I love you - you're an amazing talent!!
TP LOVER

Wish I were there
I'm sure it was an amazing night! The band looks fantastic!! I should have booked travel to one of the tour cities (I'm in Chicago); now everything is sold out. Enjoy the shows, all you TP/Heartbreakers fans who were so lucky to get shows in your towns!
Love the Simplicity
I love that TPHB has the simplest of stage sets and allows their music to be the show. Can't wait for Jazz Fest and Estero!
King
Glad to see that Tom played the King again. I hope he does it in Stockholm too. Rhe band looks great!

But there's something lucky about this place.
And there's something good coming,
For you and me.
Something good coming,
There has to be.
See you guys in Little Rock very excited
T. Earl uncovers some pearls for a gem o
From here in the land of stale, just took a call from the night clerk; working on something big is right. Buried treasure has been discovered! Across the pond and maybe afterwards, austerity is the road to follow because something good is coming. Safe travels and good luck! Kick ass gentlemen.
Great Setlist
What a great setlist! I'm very happy to see some buried treasure on there!
Looking forward to seeing the guys in Germany!

Great Show
Not a big fan of the opening act, Regina Spector but Tom and the guys made up for it. I was on the floor center about 3 rows back and it was a night I will not soon forget. I have seen Petty a few times and they are just getting better! If they come to your town they are a definite must see! You only live once. You must see the Heartbreakers before it is their last tour.
hey -
lovin the setlist - would love to see more rarities!!!
Sounds fantastic!
What an awesome setlist and great photos!!!
I can't wait for Alpharetta.....see ya there!!!
Tom Petty broomfeild
Best concert i have every been to. The last one was in 08 at the dicks sporting goods park and i thought the same then!!!
wonderful!
I can't thank you enough for touring again, I love and appreciate you guys so much. Your music means more to me than I can express...
Missing songs
I've seen many TPHB shows and they are GREAT, love the band. What I don't understand is why songs from Highway Companion are rarely on the playlist? Big Weekend or Jack or Turn This Car Around would be awesome to hear live. I think I heard Saving Grace at one show, that's about it. If the band reads these, PLEASE know that Highway Companion is sorely missed and PLEASE come to the West Coast more often. We love you out here too!
Awesome
That's a heavy list! Bring that stuff to Wichita!
love the set list!!
Cant wait!!!!
Ohh...
looks great, wish I was there.
