Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers commenced the final leg of the 2010 Mojo Summer Tour in fine fashion Thursday night, a homecoming of sorts for a band whose roots can be found just up the road in Gainesville.

With the legendary ZZ Top on board to open the tour's final ten shows, the Mojo tour promises to be a rock 'n roll fan's dream, and Billy Gibbons and company set out to prove it in Tampa with a killer set of trademark Texas blues.

Despite having lived in Southern California for most of his life, Tom will always be a Florida boy at heart, and the fans in Tampa greeted their native son like a returning hero upon taking the stage. As friends and family looked on, the Heartbreakers brimmed with confidence, tearing through their nearly two-hour show while shooting smiles and nods to friendly faces in the crowd.

"I can't tell you how much this night means to me and the band," Tom said, wiping the sweat from his face as the last notes of the "American Girl" encore echoed in the arena. "Thank you, Florida, and goodnight!"
