Saratoga Performing Arts Center, Saratoga Springs, NY
Coming off a huge headlining performance Saturday night at the Firefly Music Festival, Tom and the guys didn't step off the gas Sunday at the Saratoga Springs Performing Arts Center, rocking thousands of Heartbreakers fans at a venue that's been a staple on the band's summer tours for more than three decades.
"Saratoga Springs, it's good to see you!" Tom said after "Love Is A Long Road," waving to the packed amphitheater. "I hope you don't have any plans to go anywhere, 'cause we're ready to go!"
Mike Campbell tore into "I Won't Back Down," wringing every note out of his Gretch Clipper as the crowd sang along with Tom. "Steppin' Stone" gave everyone some insight into the band's roots in garage rock and love of Paul Revere & the Raiders, but tonight's highlight was "I Should Have Known It," the sweltering blues rocker off Mojo that sends Tom swaggering each night around the stage, maracas or tambourine in hand.
"We've been coming here since 1980," Tom said as his bid goodnight to the cheering amphitheater after "American Girl." "Thank you for always supporting us and coming out to see us, Saratoga. We'll see you next time!"
