Looking out across the lawn Saturday as dusk fell on Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion in Raleigh, NC, I'm reminded of what a diverse bunch Heartbreaker Nation is.

We're young, and we're old(er). We're moms and we're daughters, sons and we're fathers. We're white and we're black, and all shades in between. We come from all walks of life and along all points of the journey, gathering together to celebrate an amazing band and a songbook that has served as the soundtrack to so many of our lives.

ZZ Top added to Saturday's celebration with a solid set of hits spanning their four-decade career. Howling wolves summoned Billy, Dusty and Frank to the stage, and the trio didn't relent for 90 minutes, the packed amphitheater rocking to "She's Got Legs," "Waiting for the Bus," and "Cheap Sunglasses."

Few bands out there can follow ZZ Top, but everyone in attendance knew we were in capable hands after a blistering "I Won't Back Down" when Tom stepped to the mike and yelled, "Raleigh, North Carolina on a Saturday night!" A downright spooky take on Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well" led perfectly into "Mary Jane's Last Dance," but the highlight of the night was "Learning to Fly," as thousands of Heartbreakers fans stretching from the front row to the lawn sang along to the famous chorus.

Charlotte, get ready! Remember to check back for more from the Mojo tour!
