“U Get Me High” is the band’s current single, but the tune off of Hypnotic Eye that’s come the longest way since rehearsals in July is “Shadow People.” The last track on the new album, “Shadow People” was run through a bunch of times by Tom and the guys during rehearsals to figure out the right feel and arrangement for the live performance. It’s one of those songs where the band moves and shifts depending on where Tom goes with it vocally, so finding the feel for it was important. In Houston’s Toyota Center Thursday night, the crowd grooved along to the song before the spotlight fell on Tom for his solo. Wandering out to stage left, Tom slowly built up the solo, winding it up further and further before crashing b ack into the riff along with the rest of the band.
