Ever since it hit the setlist a few weeks back, “A Woman In Love (It’s Not Me)” has been an absolute showstopper.
It starts with Benmont Tench’s long, building piano intro before slamming straight away into a blistering guitar riff from Mike Campbell and a churning rhythm laid down by Steve Ferrone, Ron Blair and Scott Thurston. When Tom finally steps to the mike, the fire has been lit, and he delivers one of the greatest opening lines in rock history.
“She laughed in my face, told me good-bye,
Said, ‘Don't think about it, you can go crazy
Anything can happen, anything can end
Don't try to fight it, don't try to save me.’”
