Been thinking the same thing.
A while back Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played a benefit for the Orange County (California) AIDS Services Foundation and the Laguna Art Museum.
Tom and Dana auctioned off a car with proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers played a two night small venue benefit for KCSN FM radio station in the Southern California area about two years ago. Its a great station.
They also supported Kauai, Hawaii community radio station KKCR.
Mike and Marcie Campbell are Board Members (and founders of) 'Tazzyfund' an animal rescue charity.
The first Mudcrutch reunion gig was held in Malibu California, and was a benefit for the L.A. Midnight Mission.
Those are a few I can think of off the top of my head. Im sure there are more. All of the ones I mentioned are registered 501c (if I remember right) charitable organizations. Whatever the official designation is. Actually Tom and Dana and Mike and Marcie have seemed to support so many things, we jokingly started calling an act of giving, (especially to the music community) "Philanthropetty." :)
Worse things could happen than people taking up a few of Tom and Mike's pursuits such as their charitable endeavors.
Might not want to emulate Tom's driving though if you are trying to decide which to emulate and which not LOL.
I have wondered what happens to the funds that don't get re-claimed thru refunds? If I knew that they were to be dispersed per the band's direction, there would be no need to make a claim. But if its 'free money' Im giving it to charity unless the band wants to do it for me :)
On the other hand, if its coming out of Tom's pocket .... count me out baby. I dont want his money. Its no good here :)
(But something tells me the band's going to be held harmless in all of this)
Hah, I think they meant to put a photo of Steve the amazing drummer not Steve the fan. But thanks! LOL Always good to see a photo of me that isnt hanging in the post office.
Hey, one millisecond of that guitar and you just KNOW its Jeff Beck! Wow. And listening to Good Enough it s hard to think that Mike Campbell hasn't studied Jeff's music. Good Enough is what happens when 'Cause we ended up as lovers' has a torrid love affair with 'I can't quit you baby.' :)
Peace, and love the tunes!
Should that be Jeff Beck? (track 3)
I dont know - it is odd isnt it? Some do some dont.....
Maybe they are 'fan club exclusives' (until someone posts them elsewhere?)
Hi Relic... are you and athena going to the show tonight?? I'm still trying like mad to get a ticket. Thinking about driving up to the venue just in case. If you're there and see anyone who is looking to unload a ticket at the last minute. let me know. Or any other miracle ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated. :)
