I think I learned about JJ Cale via TP&HB covering his songs, and the fact that they gave him credit for composing the songs. Id been hearing JJ Cale's music performed by lots and lots of other artists prior to hearing TP&HB do it, but the JJ Cale connection never clicked for me until then.
At that point we got JJ's CDs and it just blew our minds how prolific and well known his music is even if JJ is a well kept secret.
Thanks TP&HB for 'letting the cat out of the bag' so to speak and turning this listener on to some truly amazing music. We might have never known to go see JJ play live had it not been for your love for his music and the covers that you play.
Car Wheels on a Gravel Road
That is crazy!
Its all good! I never knew about all the different recordings of this great tune until this tour. I'd probably heard them all before on the radio over the years but didnt know much of the back story and probably thought there was the Monkees and the 'other' version. There are at least three LOL. Well, four now that TP&HB covered it on this years tour! Figures TP&HB would once again excavate a great big nugget of buried treasure on the tour.
[edit 5 and counting....]
I missed this one too LOL!
Hi Relic... are you and athena going to the show tonight?? I'm still trying like mad to get a ticket. Thinking about driving up to the venue just in case. If you're there and see anyone who is looking to unload a ticket at the last minute. let me know. Or any other miracle ideas you might have would be greatly appreciated. :)
