I also attended the Sunday concert, however I had a much different experience than yours. Having attended several Tom Petty concerts over the years, I was joyfully happy when I heard that Tom and the Heartbreakers were going to be playing more of his album hits, instead of the straight out standards. To me, being able to hear live, Honey Bee, Cabin Down Below, Willin, So You Wanna Be a Rock In Roll Star, The Best of Everything, I Should Have Known... EPIC!!! I am still on a high from Honey Bee and Cabin Down Below alone. I never ever thought I would hear it live and now that I have, this show was really the BEST Tom Petty show I've been too, including the one I went to In London at the Royal Albert Hall!!
It's common for bands to run late, even Paul McCartney has run late at shows I've been to. Relax, it's not a job, it's a happy fun time!!
I don't know who was at your bar saying it was the worst show they had attended. Everyone I know thinks it's so outrageously GREAT that Tom did these songs. There was a thread on here that was actually asking what songs people wanted to hear. I posted on there the songs that I wanted to hear and I got lucky, because I guess other people also posted them, and they were played!!
Concert wise, this is one of the best concerts of my life!! This concert was actually not for him, it was for his real fans, the ones that know more than just the hits. It was a small venue and just the place to do something like this. I applaud Tom and the rest of the band for a really rocking night!! I will never ever forget how great it was. Thank you Tom, for playing the songs you played on Sunday night!! Just AWESOME!!
