After many years of trying, I finally made it to The Show in Minneapolis on June 29, 2013. I made sure i got to see Tom & the boys this time by buying our tickets in the pre-sale, which required me to join this club, which is now giving me the opportunity to write a bit about the greatest concert i have ever been to, and i have seen some of the best. I will add now that though I had never seen Tom & The Heartbreakers, I knew this evening was going to be special, so i turned down an offer of just under a thousand dollars to sell my two tickets, even though my new, young business I recently started surely would have benefited greatly from that extra cash flow. After just two songs i looked at my Girl and said "thank God I did not sell these tickets". I am still in awe. From the tightness in every tune to the dudes working the mixers and everything in between. I could not believe the sound quality being put out at The Target Center! The crescendos Tom, Mike etal worked into every song from Mary Jane to King were friggin' phenomenol! I have never witnessed slower, acoustic melodies and vocals morph into such a frenzy of free-flying guitar licks and driving percussions, all exploding together with such euphoric spirit. You left it all out there. I am still so moved by what I was a part of on this night. Song after song after song. And it was the audience whose hair caught fire too!
Lets face it - the reason I came to this show was to see the man himself - Tom Petty - the song-writer, the vocalist and the musician. I wanted to see him perform his art live. With such a deep library of work I could not imagine where this show would go. But man, did he throw it all out there or what? I simply could not have asked for more Tom. How do you do that night after night, year after year? To Tom's Co-Captain, Mike Campbell: i am speechless. Now I say "i have seen Santana, VanHalen, B.B. AND Campbell.
Thanx for the sweet memories,
ps-where do i get my 14 live downloads? I am going into withdrawals. Help me please!!!
