Looking out across the lawn Saturday as dusk fell on Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion in Raleigh, NC, I'm reminded of what a diverse bunch Heartbreaker Nation is.

We're young, and we're old(er). We're moms and we're daughters, sons and we're fathers. We're white and we're black, and all shades in between. We come from all walks of life and along all points of the journey, gathering together to celebrate an amazing band and a songbook that has served as the soundtrack to so many of our lives.

ZZ Top added to Saturday's celebration with a solid set of hits spanning their four-decade career.

I never fully appreciated how good Steve Ferrone is until I sat behind Mike Campbell's amp stack in Charlotte and watched the drummer play "Breakdown."

Steve is a gentle giant off stage, funny and gregarious, but hand him a pair of drumsticks and put him behind a kit and the guy turns into a drum-pummeling maniac. On songs like "Runnin' Down a Dream" and "You Wreck Me," Steve pounds out galloping rhythms with precision and ferocity.

On "Breakdown," Steve's playing is all feel, driving the song from deep in the pocket with a funky groove that gives the song a slinkiness that perfectly

With the legendary ZZ Top on board to open the tour's final ten shows, the Mojo tour promises to be a rock 'n roll fan's dream, and Billy Gibbons and company set out to prove it in Tampa with a killer set of trademark Texas blues.

Despite having lived in Southern California for most of his life, Tom will always be a Florida boy at heart, and the fans in Tampa greeted their native son like a

A little more than a month after postponing their show due to Mike Campbell's heat exhaustion, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers returned to the Blossom Music Center Tuesday night to bring the rock to Cleveland.

Affable, Athens-based rockers Drive-By Truckers reprised their role as the show opener, dropping a nifty hour-long set that featured several songs from their new album, The Big To-Do. Frontman Patterson Hood dedicated "Road Cases," a deep cut off the band's much-lauded Southern Rock Opera album, to "the two best road crews in the world - the Heartbreakers crew and the DBT crew."
