    The belted fan suggestion between "Night Watchman" and "Good Enough" elicited a huge cheer among fans in the first few rows, an approving point from Benmont Tench and smiles across the stage at the Beacon Theatre Thursday night, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers' third night of this weeklong residency at one of New York's legendary rooms.

    In a way, the heckler couldn't be more right.

    Tuesday was the second night of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ five-show residency at New York’s Beacon Theatre, coming hot on the heels of Monday’s instant-classic concert.

    While Tuesday night offered up more tour debuts, #1 hits and deep cuts, it was a moment early in the concert that really showed how much fun Tom and the guys are having on this tour.

    Long after Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers took a final bow at the lip of the stage in front of a sold-out Beacon Theatre and the grateful crowd exited after an incredible first night of the band’s 2013 Beacon residency, the old theater on Broadway and 74th Street that’s hosted so many legendary concerts was still buzzing from the night’s performance. The lights may have been turned off, the amps powered down and the guitars put away, but the room was still alive and very much electric.

    With Kings of Leon warming the stage up as the Friday night headliner and Stevie Wonder slated to close festivities down on the Main Stage Sunday, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers were in primed for a big night Saturday night with a two-hour slot following supporting sets from the Black Crowes, Gov’t Mule and Shoves & Rope.

    Tom and the guys arrived to the festival site a few hours before showtime, mingling backstage and taking in the gorgeous beachfront views of the Gulf of Mexico.

    On April 18, Tom appeared with Randy Newman, Jackson Browne and John Fogerty at the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony. They performed Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." as part of Newman's induction in the Hall.
     
    HBO is broadcasting their performance and the entire induction ceremony tonight at 9pm ET/PT!

    Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers kicked off their 21-show North American tour last night with two-plus hours of rock 'n roll in Evansville, Indiana that found Tom and the band dusting off some old gems and deep album cuts for a grateful standing-room-only crowd at the Ford Center.

    Opening with The Byrds' "So You Want To Be A Rock And Roll Star," Tom and the guys dug deep on night one of the tour, crafting the setlist with hits, some choice covers and a handful of deep cuts that hadn't been performed in years.
