    Fan Video Contest Winners (Video)
A few weeks back we issued a challenge to the fans.

    The Challenge:
Create a maximum 3-minute video about a memorable moment in your life where Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers played a part. Maybe you heard one of their songs at just the right time? Or you have an unforgettable experience to share from one of their concerts? Or maybe there's something in your life that always reminds you of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers? It could be anything!

Get creative with your submission. You can do a voiceover with a series of images, mix songs, find video clips and edit them together - the sky's the limit.

    The Prize:
Ten lucky fans who submit videos will win a pair of tickets to see their choice of one the shows from Sept. 16 in Tampa to Oct. 2 in Irvine.

Congratulations to everyone one who submitted. Some great videos, but only 10 people would be chosen.

It means a lot to hear from you. I'm sooooooo glad you got to see the video. I'm sooooooooo glad you had such a great time in Dallas. I considered going to that show just to surprise you! Toooo dang far, though. I just added a couple of more people to my party in Tampa and enjoyed the show from the 2nd row instead of the 26th!! I held up my MOJO LP and Tom looked right at it and then me and he nodded and his whole face lit up! It was MAGIC!! They put me on the 1st row in Nashville for hosting the MOJO party. What a trip!! I got to shake Dave Stewart's hand! I got some good video from the 5th row in Atlanta. You can check them out on my YouTube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/pcpettyhead?feature=mhw5 I'm on my last jar of jam. I'm trying to make it last. :) back atcha! K.

The young girl singing in the Martindale video had me in tears. I certainly hope that if there is a "best of finalist" category that this family will win. God bless them all. Beautiful family.

The whole point of making my video was to see it up here under the bright lights. Some how I did not make it on to this page. It is a sad day, I am going to sulk all day(well, a little while any way) I was hoping for an upgrade so my mammoth road trip from Vancouver to LA will be a little more worth while. Can you say VIP seats or a free night at Motel 6, Irvine. My sweetheart is a piano player and would love to meet Benmont (OK, I would too because he is amazing) There is my little rant. Hurray for the other winners, we all had a fun time on this unique contest. Planning for a great time in LA. Thanks. Big Mike

In 2002 I went to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers in Birmingham, AL, We arrived late due to my date not being ready on time so, we missed Jackson Browne doing the opening act. We could hear him singing upon our approach to the amphitheater but, by the time we got inside, he had already left the stage. AAARGHH!! Oh well. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers hit the stage and rocked it for about 2 and a half hrs and performed 23 songs. It was FANTASTIC!!! It was my 1st Tom Petty concert, even though I've been a fan from the very beginning. After the show we made our way to the t-shirt stand. I wanted to get a red shirt with the Damn the Torpedoes picture on it but, my date kept trying to talk me out of it. Her: What do you want a red shirt for? Me: I look good in red. Her: I don't like red. Me: Well, I do. Her: Blah blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah. Me: Damn the Torpedoes was my 1st Petty record. Her: Blah blah blah blah. Me: I'm getting that red shirt. Her: But, blah blah blah blah blah blah. Me: May I have that red Damn the Torpedoes shirt in XXL, please? Booth Attendant: I just sold the last XXL we had. Me: AARGHH!! The only shirt they had left in my size was a black shirt with a picture of a Tom Petty signature Rickenbacker guitar. It said, "SELL YOUR COMPUTER, BUY A GUITAR" on the front and on the back it said, "TOM PETTY ROCKS" Me: I guess I'll take that one, even though I don't own a computer to sell to be able to buy a guitar. I always wanted to play guitar. I tried a few times when I was younger but, I didn't know anyone who could teach me anything and though I enjoyed it, I figured it was something I wouldn't be able to do. But, now I had Tom Petty telling me to buy a guitar. So, I bought one. A cheap Strat copy but, it was something I could learn on. I bought the Tom Petty Guitar Anthology guitar book and I got some kid who knew a little about guitars to show me how to read it. Within 15 minutes I was playing Learning to Fly! I couldn't believe I was actually making music. I was hooked!! I could see that I could actually do it and so I immersed myself in the guitar and playing, of course, predominantly Tom Petty music. I bought a better guitar, a Les Paul. Then I bought an Alverez... then I bought a Hohner... then I bought a Fender... then I bought an Epi SG. Then I sold the Fender, the Les Paul, and the Strat copy. I took that money and I bought a Rickenbacker 660/12 Tom Petty Limited Edition. # 927 of 1,000 made. It is my most prized possession. I still feel like I missed something real good every time I hear Jackson Browne come on the radio. I always think how Joyce, my date that night, made us late. But, what if she hadn't? We would have been able to see Jackson Browne and I would have been able to get that red Damn the Torpedoes t-shirt b/4 they sold out. Wow. It kind of blows my mind. I would have never bought that SELL YOUR COMPUTER, BUY A GUITAR shirt, if not for the unique circumstances. It changed my life. I can't imagine what I'd be doing now if not for that night in August of 2002. Thanks for picking my video! Thank you Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! Thank you Joyce! You still owe me a Jackson Browne concert, though! Keith Eveland
