    Ask The Crew A Question
You have seen the video clips featuring members of the Heartbreakers' road crew. We'd like to take the interviews with crew members even deeper and want your help. What questions do you have for road crew members about their work and what it takes to put on a show and a tour?

Send us any questions you may have and some will be chosen to be answered on TomPetty.com by the relevant crew members.

Just wondering what set up Mike uses to get his sound for the MOJO album?

Steve Winstead has shared details about many Mike Campbell's favorite guitars. For Alan Rogan, can you tell us some more about some of Tom's favorite guitars beyond the Rickenbacker that you discussed in the video? Some information about why Ben has chosen certain keyboards for shows would be interesting too. For example, at the shows, he appears to be playing a Yamaha grand piano, yet in the MOJO liner notes, he plays a Steinway & Sons grand piano on the album. Thanks for considering these questions, jptoombs (Indian who shot out the lights) P.S. Thanks for all your great work at the 2 shows that I attended this tour (Omaha and Indianapolis).

How old are the stage rugs? Have they been using the same ones for years or do they swap them out often?

I have always been curious about what it takes to setup and break down the stage for a performance. I know it varies based on the complexity of performance. For the Mojo tour, how long does it take to get the stage, sound, lighting, special equipment etc. setup before the performance by the band? How many people does it take? Also, how long does it take to break down the equipment and pack for the next show?

Chinner, What brand and size guitar strings does Mike prefer? Do you keep a lot on hand for the tour? Thanks Dave T Colorado's biggest TPATH'S fan.

how do you keep it fresh every night! dont you want to change it up alot and not do the same schedule every night ?? how do you stay motivated all summer on tour?and most of all, what do you do on your days off ? do you sleep, tour the city, keep in touch with your loved ones?eat a good meal? make sure all the equipment is in good working order.? all the above?

This is a question for Chinner. First off, thanks for the videos on all the guitars! I'd like to know what the fretboard radius is on some of Mike's guitars. On his Fenders it's probably 7.25 like on his vintage Tele, but on songs like Refugee there are a ton of bends in his extended solo. That black Rickenbacker must have a 12" radius or something. Am I right in thinking it has one of the flatter fretboards like a Gretsch or Gibson? Thanks!
