I can understand that the record co. and the band want to move the dates of the shows to better promote the album..... I just hope that Joe Cocker is willing to perform in San Diego. It would take away my disappointment!!

I bought 9 copies of RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM because I gave 6 copies away to friends and family for Christmas. One copy is the one I watch, one is the rip-off 2-disc version, and one is unopened. If that scares you, then you must Scare Easy!! p.s. THANK YOU to the fans that are sticking up for the fans that this happened to.

Still wantin to put on that party dress........even if it isn't till Sept.16th! Still grateful we have them all safe and sound :)

Petty, it is more trouble than just 10 minutes and problem solved. I am a nurse working in a hospital and you don't just change your vacation day. I am scheduled to work on the weekend of my shows now so I must find someone willing to switch weekends with me. As for the hotel room, I booked through Priceline's name your own price and those rooms are nonrefundable so hubby and me will just spend a couple of days in Charlotte I guess. But I will never book a room that way again! Also, I had friends going who can't go now so I have to go through the process of getting her money back on the tickets (she bought them from me) I am still planning on going to the shows though this whole thing leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

grow up - people have the right to complain as much as they want - what's the matter, do you get upset when people say nasty things about your hero? Well let me tell you your hero has just ruined a lot of peoples summer, ruined their vacation, cost them hundreds of $$$ (in some cases thousands of $$$) that they have had to work hard for and save even harder. Times are hard enough as it is without being totally let down like this - if it was a genuine reason fair enough, but to say it is because of the album release date - sorry, not good enough - especially from someone like TP who claims to stand against the large corporate money making machine. For the record my show (Saratoga Springs - Aug 27th) has not been affected but i am devastated for the fans that are affected - especially the ones who are traveling from Europe and even further afield. Another thing that sucks is the ticketmaster fee's - TOTAL rip off - TP you got to fix this problem - YOUR fans are getting ripped off when all they wanted was to see you play.

I bought 9 copies of RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM because it's so AWESOMELY FANTASTIC!! I gave away 6 copies as Christmas presents to friends and family. One copy is the one I watch, one copy is the 2-disc version, and one is un-opened. Yeah, I guess that's pretty scary, huh?

Disappointed? Yes Happy to have great tix to two shows? Yes I dont care what day I see these guys play live. I have enjoyed them for the last 30 yrs and we're not getting any younger folks - ENJOY it while lasts. Big THANKS to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers for so many years of true rock n roll.
fizzboy79's picture

Why did that one guy buy 9 copies of running down a dream? I guess I need to by 8 more to become a "true Petty fan" ..... scary.
fizzboy79's picture

I feel bad for everyone that purchased airline tickets, that really sucks. It's good to see so many die hard Petty fans that are willing to travel a great distance to see him. But for the people complaining about rescheduling work days or hotels.....give me a break. Call your boss and switch your vacation day. Then call the hotel and switch your reservation. 10 minutes out of your day and the problem is solved. "Some days are diamonds, some days are rocks"
wexton's picture

as a huge fan who still has toronto tixs (for now) i think all the bitchin is more than warranted.it not easy or cheap to rescedule work days hotels or in some cases airfare and hope that you get all your dollars refunded.i think tp gotta atleast say somethin to those who got screwed and will lose time and money.if they werent ready they shouldnt have released tix .if its for a really reason and not for an album date then fine if not its a cheesie way to start a tour
yodamedic's picture

Okay, i tottlay understand that you needed to rescheudle your show. I am a Nurse/Paramedic that lives in NM but teaches all over the country. I was scheduled to teach a class in chicago the weekend of may 15 & 16 spend an extra couple of days and fly into phx to catch the show. had my tickets booked and everything. now the show has been changed the airline will not refund or allow me to change my ticket so i am out an additional 140 buck for a ticket that i can't use. they want 150.00 for me to change the ticket just to get back to new mexico. i am keeping the tickets for sept. but it is costing me more money than i expected to spend. now i lost the 140.00 plus had to pay for me to get back home which was a 110.00 bucks. just wanted t let you know what this rescheduling has done to some of your fans...........

Hey Tom, If I could make a recommendation, please reschedule the Hollywood Bowl with My Morning Jacket! This would be a dream concert of all time. It would take some of the sting out of all this!
nick07's picture

are we still complaining.. Wow, it has happened. Say goodbye to seeing Tom I guess. Cause all of you are whining more than my three year old neice! I have said go ahead and complain because youve got a right. But dont forget to be adults about it. Im 24 and Ive worn out one copy of the last dj! one copy of highway companion, almost the debut album. Worn out a copy of high grass dogs dvd had to buy that again! I bet i make less money than a lot of you. ITs a very diverse world, a lot of people got screwed. Now it's get over it, or dont. But if you dont get over it, we dont want to hear anymore complaining! People have been bitchin up a storm for 4 days! and its 420! Go get some bud! Smoke it! infact hey, lets have another joint on me. Lets get as gone, as we can be! And we'll float, around the ceiling. Cause baby you, Get me, HIGH!

Lifelong fan here. I've paid for your fanclub and bought a total of 11 tickets for 3 shows in the 2010 summer tour. Come on, man. I hope the Louisville show isn't cancelled. Best, Dean

I have had the honor attending many a TP & H concerts since the late 70's, but the original May 9th show would have been my wife's first, at 46 years of age and she is so disappointed as we have a prior committment in Washington DC for the rescheduled date in September. I will now have to get a ticket refund for two and we lost $$ on non-refundable hotel tickets?. This really hurts with the Florida economy on the rocks. Guys, please schedule another concert somewhere in the Southeast so that she and others like her can come see ya for the first time! It would mean so much to your longtime fans
jimh's picture

This really sucks! Spent $800 on a pair for the hollywood bowl. Was really excited to see Joe cocker too-I am sure that is scraped. What we will get in Oct is an old worn out group, bored already with touring. Thanks Tom. I scraped to get this money together. BS
gimpygasman's picture

Normally I have the worse luck getting good seats to a concert. This time though my wife, cousin and myself were able to score 5th row pit seats. Thanks to the TP fan club, long time member. Guess what though, the October 2nd show is my 24 year old daughters wedding. Great! Now we can't even go to the concert.
pcpettyhead's picture

For those of you who think those of us who are complaining aren't "true fans", you couldn't be more wrong. Tom Petty is my hero!!! Do you think I bought 9 copies of the RUNNIN' DOWN A DREAM dvd, 3 copies of the poster, and 2 copies of the book because I'm not a true fan? Do you think I own every cd, dvd, vhs, tape, and vinyl record that he's ever put out because I'm not a true fan? Do you think that I've worn out 7 copies of WILDFLOWERS and 4 copies of DAMN THE TORPEDOES because I'm not a true fan? Maybe it's the 200 sq. ft of wall space that I've dedicated to posters, albums, and magazine covers or the 7 Tom Petty t-shirts I own that make me not a true fan. Maybe it's the thousands of miles I've driven to see him live or the thousands of hours that I've spent listening to his music. You know what? It's probably the fact that my most prized possession is my 1997 Rickenbacker 660/12 Tom Petty Limited Edition Jet-Glo # 927 out of 1,000 guitar that makes me not a true fan. I wonder how many of you "true fans" on here can say that. Hey Nick, what number is your RIC? People are hurt and stunned over this stupid move. You can't yank the rug out from under 200,000 people and not expect a back-lash. I'm trying to get over it and frankly, I've got much worse things happening in my life now that make this pail in comparison. It's just this; when your hero let's you down, it's a long way to fall. I still love you Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. You're still the GREATEST BAND EVER!!!! Please let us hear from you personally, it would do so much to ease the pain.

I am sitting here reading all this nonsense!!! The guy was wrong about the Stones. I had tickets to their LA show that was cancelled when Mick's dad died. I was disappointed, but I understand things happen in life. This delay is disappointing, but it's not the end of the world! The ice caps are melting and polar bears WILL BE extinct in our life time, people are still killing each other, and other people are starving!!! So please get real! I'm sure Tom and the band have a good reason for this delay. Even if they don't, there are other much more important issues that we should spend this much energy on. We could change the world if we would!

Tom, If you ever ever ever read this board I have a suggestion that won't cost you or the band anything extra. How about extending the set list on the MOJO tour by 5-7 songs longer than usual and vary the set list nightly by at least 5-7 songs. For most of us on these boards we're seeing you on more than one occasion and it would be nice to hear as many different songs as possible. It's what you do--play em.

oh man i just saw this - we still want to go and will drive to ohio tennessee indy or even georgia. i'm just concerned about the tickets - we've always purchased tix for first seven rows - how will they handle that? Have not seen anything about louisville to date (which doesn't surpirse me). TOM.....PLEASE!
cskomo's picture

Well. I am not screaming mad, like some others. I haven't gotten tix yet, cuz I couldn't decide btw KC or Chicago. Now, I am hoping for a St. Louis date. I have been to the past three here and it is a PARTY! St. Louis loves TP and the outdoor theatre is the perfect venue. I want the open seating so I have room to dance. Been up in front and prefer to not be confined and have room to move. Please...come to St. Louis. When all dates are announced, I'll find tix and be there smiling, singing and HAPPY!

Tom, I just turned my excellent tickets in for a refund because of how this was done. Thanks for the great shows and epic albums. That's what I want to remember. Fan for 30

So I was rescheduled. I am a fan, and yes, to me it still is a big deal. Don't screw up my summer just cuz u can. To those that say quit ur bitchin he is so great, etc..., STFU, How bout you cancel your tickets in solidarity of those that cannot attend rescheduled or will have marginalized events. Summer night under the stars or hoping it's not raining outdoors in October on weeknights. ---- Now on top of that, I may have to cancel, but won't be refunded the ticketmaster fees. WTF that is BS. Tom, at least step up to the plate and kick that money back. You change the date, I give you tickets back, you give me money back. Dont you changed the rules, you pay the 5% in fees they are keeping. And if I buy a new date, oh goodie, I can pay them again. That is f***ed up.

I don't know about everyone's situation, but I think that I have the right to complain about this shit... I'm Italian... right now I'm living in the States and I postponed my flight back home in order to see him. I paid 100 euros fee to change my flight, plus two more flights to Phoenix and back to Denver, plus the hotel for 2 nights... This is not the worst part after all.. I lost a lot of money, but it's not the main issue right now... On the 24th of May I'll be back in Italy and I can't come back in September because I have to graduate in that period and I don't have enough money to come back. Tom Petty is my favourite singer and I've always dreamed of seeing him. So you can imagine why I am soooooo disappointed and sooooo sad because of this postponement... It doesn't make sense saying that "real Tom Petty fans" (and I quote Petty2224) would not and will not be so quick to the bashing etc... I hope that you can understand my pain right now without judging just because you are more lucky than I am...

Would appreciate if anyone hears anything about the Louisville Show if they would please post, I just remember he has come thru Louisville Twice for run thru shows...last time was "Its Good to be King" Tour...hope he does it again...Again thanks to anyone who finds out

While I'm at it, I want a refund on my $40 for the oh so exclusive TP club. It's a rip off and BS.
tmcmahan's picture

My boyfriend and I (we live in Denver) have made all kinds of travel arrangements to attend this concert because TP wasn't coming to Denver on this tour. I think we were ripped off. First, you have to pay $40 to join the "club" to get first choice at the tickets. So now we have airline tickets we can't cancel and I am out the extra money. This was in very poor taste. I think rescheduling so many dates was the result of VERY poor planning. Why not wait on the dates until they are a certainty. I have been a fan for years but am completely turned off by this. Jerking the fans around once again!
amartindale's picture

To me it's like this....we fans just want to be dealed with truthfully. We don't have to know any personal details, we just aren't buying the delayed relaesed stuff. It really shouldn't matter, we would buy the CD anyway. We fans would like to hear from the band as to why and that they are sorry for the inconviences and money that has been spent on plans made. We need to know that they do care about us fans. I understand things happen, be real with us. We care ALOT about TP&THB and we want to know they are maybe thinking about us too right now.
pascalb's picture

I wouldn't care about the waiting... but this was going to be my first tom petty concert ever and you have no idea how long i had to save my money to be able to afford a flight from europe to california... just to see it ending up in smoke for a few weeks i was real close to seing a TP concert... :(((
