You say your in Ohio yet you were going to a show in tampa. why dont you just go to the show in ohio (cinci) july 15th???
tednkell's picture

In the end, it's Tom Petty, and his history of being a really cool, stand-up guy, especially in the face of the "big record company." I thought that's what "The Last D.J." was all about. I'm letting this go. But it's hard. And a huge disappointment to have the your very favorite musician sell out to the "establishment" in such a big way. It's the principle of cancelling 10 shows vs. a later drop date. I believe someone mentioned "Highway Companion," which dropped after the tour began. That one did pretty well I think. The tour and the album. Once again, it's hard to let it go, but I will. Man Tom, this sucks. Why you?!

;) For a brief moment I thought about getting my money back because my show was rescheduled from a Saturday to a Tuesday, smack dab during the middle of the work week... Then I put on my big girl panties and decided to heed some great Tom Petty advice: "Take me as I come, 'cause I can't stay long"... (Glad you rescheduled, rather than canceling. When you retire, all of these fair-weather fans will be kicking themselves! See you in September!)

My thoughts is this, You can be upset, but all this bashing and long comments, camparing the band to others cussing etc. is totally obserd. get a refund others will love to have a ticket, but the album dont buy the album many will anyway, But true die hard Petty fans would not and will not be so quick to the bashing etc. if all hadnt gotten their way then nothing bad would be said about petty. You should be happy he still tours, and you can get a refund, and he didnt cancel just rescheduled, so suck it up and stop the bashing. for every person on here complaining there is millions more happy to be a true petty fan and will happy to take in a show no matter what day its on. lots of people couldnt get a ticket so if you turn yours in only makes someone else happy. Tom Petty is the best and like i SAID BEFORE i AM SURE HE DIDNT JUST SIT AROUND WONDERING HOW TO RUIN YOUR DAY!!!!!!!! Tours are hard and alot goes into making one happen I am sure this is just as hard on the band's family road crews, arena personel, etc. just think he added more dates to appease his fans but the above mentioned wont get free time till months later. so think of others as well too before you go bashing..

To all of you who keep saying people should shut-up and get over it, I say screw you. I felt that way myself for a moment. Then I realized you must be the ones that either your concert was not moved or you didn't have to go out of your way to get to the concert. I live in Ohio and was going to see TP in Tampa. At first it just kind of sucked to rearrange my schedule, then I realized the new date is my sons 18th birthday. So now what? Do I miss his birthday (once again I live in Ohio) or do I take the refund and get tickets to a new show? The only problem is I have been a Companion member since it began. The only real benefit you get is the presale, so like a loyal Petty fan I renewed my membership this year like most of you. The I waited ANXIOUSLY for the presale. Now the tickets I am able to get for any other show SUCK!!!!! In some cases the seats are behind the stage. I am really disappointed, this was my birthday present this year. But through all the bitching, I will see a show. I love TP and THB's, but this sucks. So to those of you who don't think we have a right to express our anger, I think you neewd to shut-up. TP needs to find a way to make this up to those of us who are being displaced. The whole thing is very, very, very disappointing.

In reading all the comments and putting in a few of my own, I will be the first to tell you that I was really pissed when all I got was a lousy email from ticketmaster. Even though I have had to spend more because of rebooking hotels Tom will probably fix this. I know people have lost thousands upon thousands of dollars in reading but those of us who will wait an additional 5 months may get a longer show as an I am sorry. Tom will probably make a statement on Monday or Tuesday b/c this is all over the net, mtv, blogs, twitter, facebook, when you look at it as a whole - wow there were a lot of people affected by these changes. When you read the article about MOJO Tom even says it is mainly them just sitting in a room and playing no dubs, or special effects, just true music. So you can not use the CD as a delay. A radio station noted that when they showed the new Wilburys product line Tom was walking with a cane, this could be simple as he had knee surgery and his doctor told him he needed more healing time. True Petty fans know that he has always been there for them and I will be there for him and the band for my two shows front row center having a great time ** Hope he plays Girl on LSD**
nick07's picture

dude that titles his comment - this is very wrong... hey, You are very wrong! These things happen all the time! Other bands are notorious for this stuff! Do not say this is his legacy! Negative people focus on the negative! So once in 2010 he had to very forgivingly re-schedule the first leg of his tour! His career spans over 30 years! I dont even want to tell you what I think about the things you are saying, for I allready have. He had to re-schedule! and any loss for a fan im sure Petty takes to heart!!! Realistically, this stuff happens, not intentionally! Be forgiving! I see so many people in this world that frankly have there heads where they shouldnt be. They dont care, and are too dang selfish to understand that shit maybe Joe Cocker is sick? Maybe the recording of the album didnt go as planned? Maybe Benmont had a flippin kid and has to attend his sons first birthday!! who really knows! The simple fact is, everybody is acting like this is the end of the world because Tom is an amazing stand up class act along w the Heartbreakers! and he has not really done this in the last like 18 years.. and DO NOT GET STARTED ON TICKET PRICES! Tom Petty is the cheapest Headliner you could ever see at his caliber period! He's always looked out for us, and made us happy! Now that there's a little hickup you people turn and run! Just know he couldve charged all of you and me 300 a damn seat in the first ten rows just like aerosmith and roger waters and fleetwood and the eagles! Seriously! Dont bite the hand that feeds you.. oh and stns440 - The stones would not cancel.. Who cares, they cant be compared to TP&THB totally different kind of music, totally different insight! Anyway, you get my drift.. Dont let the big log hit you on the dick on the way out of the river! Sometimes the white water is a little deepr than expected! Oh but you are the dick.. sorry. see all of your guys' negativity is making me negative!!!
stns440's picture

As many others I am coming from a different country and had to pull out all the stops to make the Houston date work, plus I was lucky enough to get front row seats. Do these guys even care anymore how hard it is for the common fan to set this up? It sounds as though no effort at all was used to remedy this. I was in Vegas to see the Stones when Mick Jagger's father was suddenly dying the night the Stones were to play. I was in the hotel with their tour manager Micheal Cohl when it was happening and he told me that with great reluctance he offered to Mick to try and reschedule that show in order for Mick to be by his father's side as he died. Incredibly Mick left his father at the last possible moment and flew to Vegas to make the show because they all knew how much people went through to make this show. Can you imagine how bad Mick felt as he was flying from England knowing his father would die that night? Now that is taking the fans and putting them first. I will probably have to lose out on my front row center seats not to mention all the money and lost time that goes with it.

WOW...all the cities....all the days...ya; ever stopped and thought what a 1,000.000.00 cd pays a day......tebnkell....I feel your pain I was close in Louisville also.....

Love you Tom, but whoever pulled the trigger on this underestimated your fan base....already bought airline tickets for customers/friends, hotels already pre bought and so on....but we're all happy that you'll sell more albums because that's what most important to your label...drop them when you have the chance

Most of you are idiots for the comments you made. LET IT GO! Petty tunes have given us all so much, through the goodtime and bad. Can't wait to see you again Bro...this will be my 30th show + 2 mudcrutch shows. This is a first....No problem Boys see you in Sept & Oct. instead PettyHead NorCal

Thanks Tom... I live in Thailand and bought 3 tickets over the internet for your show in Tampa. My 70 year-old parents live there and as a treat I was taking them to your show there this month while I was at home visiting. We were so excited. Listening to "Wild Flowers" on a road-trip. I even bought the "Running Down a Dream" DVD to get them excited for the show. I was so upset yesterday to get an e-mail from ticket master saying that the date has changed. You need to realize that when you advertise a show people make plans, get excited, and invest time and money in the event. It is unfair of you to change the date. What's even more unfair is the lame reason for the delay, the CD won't be out in time. People who bought tickets through ticketmaster have the rights to download it for free. The fact that the CD isn't out didn't prevent the hundred-thousand or more people who you are really putting out from buying tickets in the first place. Needless to say I won't be around for the show that will now take place four months from now. I will be seeking a refund from ticketmaster and sending you a bill for any difference between what I paid for the tickets and the amount ticketmaster refunds on my credit card. I am so disappointed in you. I expected more. Arthur Fedde

I just got married and was looking forward to the show in Tampa. When I told my new wife that the show had been moved to 4 months later on a Thursday night she was devistated. Soon afterward, I was in the dog house after we found out that we could not get our $150 back for our hotel in Tampa. I am so sad because I have been the biggest TP fan since I was in seventh grade and I am always playing TP around the house. However, now this has put a real damper on this whole experience. She is now mad at me and TP. Since I am a huge fan, I can't be mad at TP and the Heartbreakers. I am hoping I can sew things up between me, my new wife, and TP.
dabjab06's picture

I was just now looking at ticketmaster and they show that the Louisville, KY show is still on May 12th but the others were moved. Why is that? If the first 10 or 11 shows were to be moved, they should be too. I know that the worlds not a fair place but I just spent extra money because I had to cancel and reschedule my hotel room for the Charlotte NC show. This is BS Tom, you going to move the first 10 shows and just because you forgot about one they get to keep the same date? Really screwed up - I am a huge fan with front row seats and I wanted a meet and greet opportunity, but honestly after this I am not too sure. Why is all this happening we the fans deserve to know! We all know it is not from the CD because if it were you would not have released 4 songs with 1 to go already. Time simply for he truth so those of us now that are going to need to wait an additional 5 months to see you have understanding. I just hope we do not get the band who is burned out and ready to go home. All this from a CD release $%^#&&$%
nick07's picture

Ok, all of you are taking this too far! I'm blown away by all of your actions! DONT GO TO THE FUCKIN CONCERT THEN! SHUT UP STOP BITCTHING. GET YOUR MONEY BACK! AND DO NOT GO!!! I DONT WANT YOU THERE!!!!!!! and if this tour is cancelled because of all of you A HOLE FANS! I Will have seriously lost faith in humanity NOT the Band! WAKE UP! ITS WAKE UP TIME, TIME TO OPEN UP YOUR EYES AND RISE AND SHINE! I do feel for the people that have been effected but COME ON! What is this the 2nd or 3rd show hes re-scheduled in 30 YEARS!!!!!!!!! Thats an amazing track record! He didnt cancel the tour, he re-scheduled the the first leg!!!!!!!! NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL. BUT YOU LAMES ARE REALLY KILLING THE VIBES!!!! PETTY and The BREAKERS send good vibes, not all of this nasty stuff! I apologize for getting upset but give them a fucking break! What if they never toured again and never scheduled this tour. We'd be about ten times more screwed! It is terrible the inconveniences but DEAL with it! Surely you people have been through worse and I'll say it again, if you haven't Im jealous and would want to be you if you weren't so mean!!! Infact Im to the point where I dont feel for any of you except the out of country fans!! All of you! Im very hurt for you! If you love Tom and The Breakers the way I do. My heart is heavy for you! The rest of you! DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom has done more for US, in the music industry than AYNONE WILL EVER ACCOMPLISH OR TRY TO ACCOMPLISH. If you dont realize that! Maybe you should sharpen up your Petty trivia!!! End of story! Soon it's gonna be the End of The Line for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers! First off theyre almost 60! Second off They do not want to tour to a bunch of mean people! The way you guys are talking you probably dont even know what song end of the line is! Its by the traveling wilburys. That would be bob, jeff, tom , roy, george. Anyway all Im saying is LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE and the big picture is a lot heavier than all of you in state fans being re-scheduled if you cant learn to mesh with whats just happened then I guess you wont be there and are weaker than we expected.. and thats as far as she rolls baby! Tom is the only Show I really give a SH** about seeing! I understand being upset but BE ADULT ABOUT IT!
teedowns's picture

This is total BS! My husband and I have been looking forward to an overnight stay in Louisville and having a guaranteed great time. September? Freedom Hall may not even be there then! I want more than a refund.
sabrina's picture

While the change of dates was probably not the decision of Tom Petty himself it is really really bad on all of the fans who had purchased tickets. This was extremely bad management who had a total disregard for all of the people who have purchased tickets. It must not have crossed their minds that not everybody lives near the venues. Some people had to book flights, hotels etc for this which are non-refundable and now will have not only lost a lot of money but are loosing their chance to see Tom Petty too if they cant afford to go to the reshcheduled show. The reason being due to the album coming out later than planned is not an excuse at all!! They have ample material to play at the shows rather than do this. I am from Ireland and going to the Toronto show, I am really hoping that this doesnt get changed too because I have booked the flights etc. I really feel bad for those who have been seriously affected by the poor management of these shows. Disgraceful.

This message is specifically for tednkell; samuelrosetpf; terryr...and anyone else under the impression that TPATH is in the wrong. First of all...most people don't even have the money to "book flights, hotels, buy tickets, etc." to see TPATH....so the mere fact that you were able to do this- suggests to me that you are capable of obsorbing the financial loss. I don't care how much of a "fan" you claim to be-- it's obvious you don't know s*** about the music business. Get a life and go worry about other bands that you like who do this ALL THE TIME. Be thankful Tom and his band are still around to make wonderful music.
tyesan's picture

Those of you who are giving Heartbroken folks a hard time either weren't affected by the change or are fortunate enough in this economy to be able to accept hundreds in flight/accomodation rescheduling. For the benefit of the rest of the masses, stop adding insult to injury with your condescending spewing of attitude. I haven't worked for over a year, so the hundreds I am out really really hurt, so shut the f up. TP, don't be a heartbreaker. Show us your new tunes live on the original scheduled dates. Change this back now while you still can. Please. Don't let this be your legacy.

We have tickets for Milwaukee, Chicago and Indy and hope Tom adds St. Louis to the tour. GREAT things are worth waiting for and Mojo is surely one! Can't wait to see you Tom, thanks for THE MUSIC.
tednkell's picture

Tom's next generation of fans, ages 9, 7 and 7, were counting down the days to their first Petty show in Louisville, KY! This show (5th and 10th row seats) was our first as a family, plus I was bringing my best friend to see one of the best live bands ever. Being a Florida girl, U of F grad (GO GATORS) and self confirmed Petty-"groupie" (ever since I lost count of the number of shows I've been to) the children have been raised on the music, stories and STAND-UP-TO-THE-BIG-MUSIC-ESTABLISHMENT philosophy that Tom Petty has very publically made know as his core belief system and has often made statements professing in his pricing? (not sure about that lately), music, and by taking care of his fans. I am one of those die-hard fans who rarely complains, yet I can see both sides of most debates on this site. I was extremely disappointed, and a little mad, when the email arrived about the Louisville show cancellation. And even more so when I saw it was the only show not rescheduled. Not having time to investigate, I tried to move forward and figured there must be a good reason and even prayed no one in the band/families/etc. was sick or injured. I presented the news to my kids as a "blessing in disguise" as I'm Asst. Directing and my son is performing in the school's production of "Beauty in the Beast, Jr." the day after the now cancelled-and-not-re-scheduled show. AND THEN TO FIND OUT IT’S BECAUSE OF THE CD DROP DATE! I am now praying for all of you who are out $$$ and time. And hoping we will have a show here at all. And yes, even if we do, if we will be able to attend. As a read just a few of the posts it really struck me how many fans are completely disillusioned with Tom Petty et al. at this point in the game. I think I'm joining ranks. One of my seven-year-old daughters, who has mild Cerebral Palsy, will be having a surgery in mid-June, to hopefully tweak the high tone in her legs just enough that she will no longer have to wear the leg braces she has worn since she was two. However, do to the complexity of the neurosurgery, she will be hospitalized and then will require several months to a year of daily physical therapy. Somehow I just don't see those awesome floor seats panning out for us! These are my twin girls who ask when they were four if I could call Tom and ask him to do a concert for them. I always refer to Tom Petty as just Tom and they figured I must know him, why not just call him up? And my son, who I took to see Petty when he was four, but was so excited he couldn't nap that day. Two songs into the show he fell asleep, (he claims it was because that was the music he always listened to at bedtime) and didn't wake up until they turned up the lights! These are three fans aren't out money, hotel rooms or plane tickets. Just broken dreams and broken promises. But I'm not the one who broke them, just the one who has to explain why. It doesn't make sense, after all these years, when the times are bad for so many people, that principles and core values just seem like something someone used to sing about in songs.

Guys did you really have to do this?? I am a life long Petty fan and have booked flights, hotel and car hire to come over from England to see my first show. I still am and allways will be a great fan but I feel this is un-acceptable. I now lose £2000 on bookings :( What a letdown.

Has it really happened that a guy who has long stood for the the little guy is now squarely snubbing the same little guys that have put him on the mantle of rock and roll? I suggest that the use of forums like this and other social media can help spread the word and put enough pressure on the TP&HB machine that we can make a change - or at least get the truth from Tom himself. Let's mobilize people - I started - take a look at my latest entry at jtroia.com. Spread the word Digg it, link to it on facebook, do something to bring this out into the open! Make this a STORY!

I purchased tickets for the Dallas concert on May 15. The tickets were for my boyfriend's birthday, and the Saturday date was convenient. Now we find out the concert is rescheduled for a September TUESDAY! Ridiculous! An outdoor concert in Texas in September is less than comfortable. Some people still work for a living and can't justify taking off two days for a concert. We are very disappointed and will probably not attend the rescheduled concert. At least we are within driving distance and hadn't booked nonrefundable flights. Sounds like another corporate decision without regard for anything but another few dollars.

SALE OUT!Sale Out. Its hard to believe that Tom you are a sale out. What happen in thirty plus years? You went from a legen to a loser. Hard to shollow but true. There goes the last DJ. You really know how to screw up a lot of peoples plans. Once more maybe Mojo will really suck just like the last DJ. You should try your hand at being a politician you already have the sale out part down.Looks like you did back down.toverstreet62

We have booked plane tickets from europe to see tom petty at hollywood bowl. And now it is moved. "The band sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused and hope fans can make the rescheduled dates which are listed below." Seriously, who the hell makes a decision like this? This affects thousands of fans in a really bad way. I have been a huge tom petty fan practically my whole life but this kind of bullshit makes me really angry. Think of the consequences before you make a decision like this. You are hurting a lot of fans.
england21's picture

I'm flying out from England to see the show in Winnipeg (my first TP&HB concert, only actually discovered his music this year) so I breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw that my date was going ahead as planned...for the moment at least. It will be a nervous wait til then!! Like a lot of people, I have booked and paid for flights and accommodation, and actually have an opportunity in June through certain personal circumstances to be reckless enough to pay best part of £1000 to come out to Canada for a concert, rather than waiting for the band to come over to Europe; that won't be the case in the autumn. I can only sympathise with those who can't make the rearranged dates because there most likely won't be compensation for lost funds unrelated to tickets. I agree with what others have said on here about the album...I'm a Neil Young fan too and he seems to have gone through his whole career singing brand new songs on tour that noone knows, before the album is anywhere near completion (whether the fans at the time liked it or not!). I can't quite see why the dates have been put back, it makes no sense when the tour still starts 10 days before the album release. It really shouldn't matter if fans are hearing new material, if anything it's a bonus to be the first to hear new tracks, and given that the tickets have come with a free download of the album, I can't see how it would affect overall album sales. Unless it's that important for the crowd to be able to sing along?? As a new fan it is sad to see how much trouble and heartache this is causing people who have clearly followed the band for years...let's just hope for everybody's sake that there won't be any further changes. (And that the Icelandic volcanic ash clears before European fans need to fly over!!)

I am coming from the UK and luckily for me I decided to go to the Saratoga Springs show on Aug 27th which is unaffected (so far) I was a click away from buying hollywood bowl tickets instead & if i had I would have been over $5000 out of pocket. Yes they are honoring the tickets for the new shows but what about the fans that have already booked time off / airline tickets / hotels / car hire etc etc - this is just devastating news for them - There must be something TP can do to fix this cos it is so wrong.
