Tom Petty's concerts and his Buried Treasure shows on Sirius brought me so much joy. I'm heartbroken for his fans, friends and family. RIP

I started listening to your music when I was a senior in high school back in 1978 . Tom was one of the best songwriters in music history! My thoughts go out to Tom's family and the Heartbreakers. Rest In Peace Tom...you will live on through your music.

My thoughts go out to Tom Petty's family, close friends and of course the band. I feel very fortunate to have seen him perform many times, he never disappointed. I am deeply saddened by this news it is such a sad and tragic loss.

Heartbroken, as everyone must feel. Our condolences to Tom's family and friends. Always loved his and the bands' music, but while listening to his radio show, my respect and admiration just grew. He was so down to earth yet he possessed such genius as a musician and songwriter. He was inspired by the greats and he became even greater. He remains one of the most brilliant artists of our time and beyond. I am very sad that we will hear nothing new from our Last DJ. But I also imagine that maybe he is jamming with George, Roy, Prince, and others now. It is some comfort there. Peace.

I'm grateful to have come of age while Tom was making music. I made the same move that he did, from FL to CA, and his music always felt like a lodestar for me. "Crawling Back To You" is my all time favorite, and I saw him play it in Berkeley last month. "I'm so tired of being tired." Love to anyone and everyone reading this note.

We were at your last concert last Monday at the Hollywood bowl. It was such a nice time with the fantastic music. You made people forget about all the problems in the world for a couple of hours. Thank you for the great music. God bless your family and your band.

Tom your music was there for me for every time I needed inspiration or a shoulder to cry on. It's hard to think you are gone. Today my music died. Though I know it was your time to move on, its still hard to accept. Thank you Tom, for your music and for the great contributions you have made to humanity.

So devastated to lose somebody who touched our lives for 40 years. I saw every tour from 1976 till red rocks this year and loved every moment. All of us heartbreakers have broken hearts tonight. Thanks to tp and the hbs for a lifetime of great rock and roll

He slipped the earthly bonds of gravity ascending into the ethereal heavens above, another guitar slinger another rock'n'roll singer, playing that great gig in the sky.....safe journey Tom....thanks...for everything....
