Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers wrapped up the U.S. leg of their 2012 Summer Tour in fine fashion in Austin on Saturday, rocking the sold-out Erwin Special Events Center on Cinco de Mayo.

Regina Spektor, the immensly talented New York City-based songstress who opened the 10 shows in the U.S., once again delivered an incredible set backed by her trio. Spektor has proven to be a more than capable opener for Tom and the band, captivating audiences with her unique, piano-driven pop songs and gorgeous voice. Safe to say many Heartbreakers fans are now Regina Spektor fans due to her incredible performances on this tour.

Tom and the band stormed the stage just before 9 pm to rapturous applause and cheers. Never ones to leave anything left in the tank, the Heartbreakers delivered the show of the tour, a great mix of songs powered by inspired playing by one of the best bands on the planet. "Free Fallin'" is almost always a glorious sing-a-long, but Austin gave it some added punch with the loudest audience vocals all tour. Mike Campbell was on fire all night, ripping solo after solo - including an absolutely monstrous one on "It's Good To Be King" - that brought smiles to the fans and everyone on stage. As if on cue, the skies opened shortly after the Heartbreakers' incendiary set, and Austin was deluged with an epic thunderstorm only found in the great state of Texas.

Canada, you're up next! See you in a few weeks and then on to Europe!

This was the 9th time I'd seen them and I can't say they've ever looked or sounded any better than they did in Austin. I loved when they did "Something Big". One of the best songs of the night for me.

I have been a fan for 30 years and they sounded like they did 30 years ago! Absolutely awesome show. I especially liked the comment, we are going deep in the albums for this show! My husband of 20 years had never heard It's Good To Be King. Shame on me. Loved it! Great show!

I'm happy that you gave props to Regina. I would have loved to have witnessed an event that had the both of you featured in it. But I take comfort knowing that I'll being seeing her in concert for the 3rd time this year next week in NYC. Why don't you make a guest appearance there? I can dream, can't I?

This was the second time I was able to be in the first few rows, and it's so cool to be able to see the guys' interactions with each other that you can't appreciate when Steve was off with his timing at the end of 'listen to her heart' and Mike and Ben looked at each other like "what the heck is he doing?" and Mike was laughing and giving Steve the business after the song (of course, Steve rocked all night, don't get me wrong!). It was just cool to see the boys laughing and interacting with each other as well as some of the fans, which just added to an already awesome show...and I caught a guitar pick that Scott threw off the stage!

Great Gig! Thanks for the excellent tunage! So there I was, holding up a burning BIC lighter as everyone else around me held illuminated smart phones aloft. "Old School!" a guy on my left said, laughing....

Wow Wow Wow !!! I had the most incredible trip to the USA. All things pointed to a fantastic time.Waiting to board in Brisbane and Free Fallin came on in the terminal ! I had tears in my eyes in anticipation. An awesome flight and Ive never met such kind people like I did in Austin. You should be so proud , the best city I,ve been to in the US by a country mile.To the lovely people I met (at Serranos) from the forum on this website, I thank you all so much for a very warm welcome.I had a great seat (aisle row 9)but I walked a little toward the front to maybe see any of my new friends, but I met a lovely couple, who, after hearing my accent insisted I stay with them closer to the stage after travelling so far, I thank you both heaps for such a kind gesture.(sorry I cant remember your names). As a Tom Petty fan for 30+ yrs, and a virgin to a show thx Tom for playing a real fav of mine ," Here Comes My Girl " . After nearly 17000 miles in 5 days , I should be a little Lagged out , but I ain,t yet ! I,m still on a real High over what I,ve just witnessed . All I can say is, I,ll Be Back ! Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers ROCK !!!! Regards Johnno

I'm sooo excited to bring my family to see TPATH. Looking forward to a great show. BTW: It's Cinco de Mayo too...If you're from out of town, try one of many of the great Mexican restaurants in Austin for dinner. FYI: The holiday of Cinco De Mayo, The 5th Of May, commemorates the victory of the Mexican militia over the French army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862. It is primarily a regional holiday celebrated in the Mexican state capital city of Puebla and throughout the state of Puebla, with some limited recognition in other parts of Mexico, and especially in U.S. cities with a significant Mexican population. It is not, as many people think, Mexico's Independence Day, which is actually September 16.

I can't believe all those dusty road trips all around Australia with Tom Petty my favorite highway companion that I'm now going to see him live. Driving up from Houston which is only next door (if you've come all the way from Oz). And not leaving till he plays Rebels. And if Mystic Eyes goes for less than 12 minutes we're all feel cheated. Cooee!
