Albuquerque, NM 04/24

Apr 24 2012
Albuquerque, NM
Tingley Coliseum

Originally built as a a rodeo and horse show auditorium in 1957 with funds provided by President Franklin Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration, Albuquerque's Tingley Coliseum was packed to the rafters for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers on the fourth night of the band's 2012 Summer Tour.

With prior stops in Colorado and Arkansas last week, the Heartbreakers' tour picked up some serious steam heading into New Mexico, and both the crowd and the band did not disappoint.

Welcomed onstage by an ear-piercing ovation from the capacity crowd, Tom and the guys launched into a hit parade that featured songs from across the band's catalogue. "Here Comes My Girl" continues to be a huge crowd-pleasing sing-a-long, but tonight's highlight was surely the sultry "Lover's Touch," Tom's smokey vocals accented beautifully by Mike Campbell's guitar riffs and Benmont Tench's organ swells.

"Hard livin' killing me
I need that woman to set me free
And I want her
I want her so much
Cause she got the lover's touch"

Listen to Her Heart
You Wreck Me
I Won't Back Down
Here Comes My Girl
Handle with Care
Lover's Touch
I'm A Man
Something Big
Free Fallin'
Travelin' Light
Time to Move On
Learning to Fly

As one of the Rebels and Dreamers contest winners, I chose the Albuquerque concert since I was coming from California. It was worth the traveling. It was obvious that these fans loved TPATH. Tom called the crowd sweet as honey and they roared!! Tom seemed so happy and so eager to please. The set list was well rounded and the concert was great. Loved the stage and lighting. I have seen TPATH in 6 states now and would travel to another one if I could afford it. Thanks for the tickets.

I am still so excited about the awesome show on Tuesday night! I have loved Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for years and years. This was the third time I see them! I love you guys!! I had such a great time except for the very pushy and abusive security on the floor. It is all part of the concert game to try and get to the front, to get some pictures, to have fun. I have included a picture a one of the security personnel who was literally pushing me, grabbing my arms, and literally scaring me a little bit through out the show. Although I am thrilled to have seen the show and was just enjoying myself as were the thousands of other fans, this security team needs a talking to as to how not to "man handle" fans.

What a show! I have been reliving it each time I hear a Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers song. I live for Rock and Roll and Tuesday was the pinnacle of all the shows I have seen. Tom and the band were nothing short of brilliant. Mike Campbell's guitar never sounded so good live. The sweaty, steamy Tingley may have even reminded Tom of his Florida roots! I didn't go to sleep that night and I have been on a "Tom Petty High" ever since the last note of "American Girl" Thank you soooo much for gracing our city with music from an American Treasure.

Great show, Thanks so much for coming and shaking out the mothballs in that barn! To the 2 ladies sitting next to me in row 2, thanks for getting my son thrown out of the venue and beaten up by the cops for stepping on your toes.He had a ticket and the right to be there. He got his glasses broke and he is all bruised up. I posted a picture of the security guy who wouldn't even look at his ticket before roughing him up. Tom thanks again for the great show, my wife was front row and she says you looked right at her! Fortunately she didn't know what happened to her son till the show was over.

I saw you guys the 1st night at Broomfield a couple of nights ago - I was front row, center. AMAZING. And I love Regina Spektor too (great choice!). Can't wait to see you guys again in Albuquerque next week!! Too bad I'm only 13th row though :( If you happen to read this PLEASE play Don't Do Me Like That in Albuquerque. I have all of your albums, I love when you bust out deep, obscure tracks. I've seen you guys 6 or 7 times now, but I've never heard DDMLT live and would looooooooooooooove if you guys played that one. Purty please!!!

Drivin down all the way from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to see the greatest rock n roll band of all time. And by the way I bought tickets the second that the fan club presale started and I got row 8 on the left. Mike and Benmont will surely be playing their hearts out and I can't wait to see it right in front of me. I hope Good Enough is a staple song for his shows this tour it's sure worthy of that honor. And of course I would love to hear Honey Bee because Tom Petty is the "King of Milwaukee" Also, we love you Ron but miss you Howie!

I bought tickets within minutes of the 10 am release time on Jan. 10 and the best I could do was get row 22!! Couldn't afford to buy VIP tickets @ $250 a piece. Got much better seats at past concerts but still super excited to see TPTHB. Guess they don't sell good seats to fans anymore unless you pay the big bucks. Still row 22 in the middle section isn't so bad....Attached a photo from the Mojo Listening party at the Rock & Roll Museum in Clovis, NM - still trying to get back stage with Tom and the boys!

to dumb to figure this out guess ill listen to a CD

I am not a member, but when I looked up tickets it asked if I wanted to buy tickets and join for $45, then it offered me floor seats row 6 seats 1 & 2. What a scam. You get better seats if you join when you buy tickets lol.
tjschwan's picture

We just heard that the tickets are "now" on sale...confused! We bought 5 tickets last week for our family...after fees was $120 per ticket, and not the best seats either.

Where is the Albuquerque access code for the presale tickets?
