Milwaukee, WI 06/26

Jun 26 2010
Milwaukee, WI

Beyond the stage crew performing basic line checks to ensure that the instruments and equipment onstage are working properly, Tom and the band do not do soundchecks, which makes it all the more impressive when they deliver the kind of awe-inspiring performance like the second night at Milwaukee's Summerfest. These are the moments that remind me just what an amazing band the Heartbreakers are.

Arriving amid rapturous applause from the Summerfest faithful, Tom and the guys tore through the set which played like a soundtrack to the last quarter century: "Refugee," "Don't Come Around Here No More," "Free Fallin'," "ou Don't Know How It Feels", "I Won't Back Down," "American Girl," "Learning to Fly," "Breakdown"Njthe list just goes on and on. How many concerts do you attend where you know 90 percent of the lyrics to most of the songs played?

Even the new songs from Mojo have begun to work themselves into the hearts of Heartbreakers fans. "Good Enough" returned to the rotation in Milwaukee after a two-week hiatus, having been played last at The Gorge in Washington. Led by Mike Campbell's gritty guitar work, "Good Enough" is a searing blues rocker that is sure to make more appearances in the set lists as the tour progresses. For the second time this tour, Tom dusted off "Don't Pull Me Over," a reggae jammer that elicited clouds of smoke and howls of approval from Marcus Amphitheater.

Check back in the next few days for more video from Milwaukee!

Jefferson Jericho Blues
Good Enough
American Girl
Oh Well
Listen to Her Heart
Kings Highway
Don't Come Around Here No More

I was there on July 4, 2001, when Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fell in LOVE with Summerfest, and vice versa. This is one love affair that has never waned. Not one iota. Their two appearances there last June just deepened the mutual adoration. Tom, Mike, Benmont, boys: keep rockin' and keep coming to Summerfest. We'll leave a light on for ya.

It was great to see you and the band at the 2nd show in Milwaukee at Summerfest! It was a really good show! The last time you were here it was sold out and I was disappointed all the way up to this show! It was nice that you played 2 days here!!! Hope that you could come back to Milwaukee and do a longer set with all your older songs!!! You have so many good songs. It was also nice to see ZZTop again! I guess my photo is more than the 400k limit so go see at on facebook. Just add me Terry Hefko

Eddy Vetter was right, it's rock 'n roll heaven when TP&HB play Milwaukee summerfest. ZZ Topp as openers was extra special treat. It was all so awesome, I'm scheming to see if it's feasible to do a road-trip and see the boys again ... maybe Gator-country Tampa in September. We miss you HOWIE EPSTEIN.

How the hell do you get front row seats or even section 2? I signed up for the highway companions fan club so I could get great seats. I went on-line as soon as the pre-sale tickets went on sale and I ended up with Section 3 Row 23. Those aren't bad, but they aren't as good as I want or would expect for paying to be in the fan club. Could someone please explain how you get seats in the pit?

What a weekend. Love Summerfest. I never miss TP@HB @ Summerfest. Mojo ROCKS. Section 2 row AA 1st night, section 3 row T 2nd night. I only wish I could get those front row seats. Petty is the MAN!!! Who's better than Mike Campbell or Benmont Tench III. Rolling Stone not having Mike Campbell in the top ten guitarist is a crime. See ya in Chicago.

after all the years and all the shows i've been blessed to see....once AGAIN the guys have surpassed all of my feeble earthbound expectations and catapulted our simple human creative souls light years forward and back again over and over. Thanks for the much appreciated transcendent voyage last night, Sat. June 26,2010 is timestamped in eternity for all to see

Guys. I love your stuff. All of it. Doesn't make a lick of difference what you play, as long as you play it awesome. You know, like the way you always do. All I ask is that you play YER SO BAD just once, on Saturday. It's our song, and I'm bringing the better half to see you guys for the first time. PLEASE! I BEG OF YOU!!

Can't wait to see you guys up close from the third row on Saturday night! Love the new album, especially "Lover's Touch" and "I Should've Known It". Would love to hear "Angel Dream" or "It'll All Work Out" (never heard these live), but either way it's gonna be a great show!! Keep rockin!
