Rexall Place

Five white banners ring the ceiling at Rexall Place, representing the five Stanley Cups the Edmonton Oilers have won in their history. Wayne Gretzky is largely responsible for four of those white banners, earning him a bronze statue out in front of the arena, a street named in his honor and his retired #99 jersey hanging in the rafters.

Two years after their sold-out Edmonton debut, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers returned to Oil Country and received a hero's welcome that would make Gretzky blush. Riding into town hot off a sizzling show in Calgary the night before, the Heartbreakers left nothing to chance, pouring on a pile of classic hits one after another. Tom took a nice extended guitar solo on "Mary Jane's Last Dance" before intertwining leads with Mike Campbell on "Drivin' Down to Georgia." "First Flash of Freedom" is opening up more and more every night, evolving into the spacey psychedelic masterpiece the band envisioned at its genesis. This band is hitting on all cylinders now - you've been warned!

Check back tomorrow for a report from Saskatoon with more photos and videos of the band and fans!

Just wanted to say thank for the time of my life and for all the years of music. Was so happy to be there in the 2nd row floor and then invited to the 1st with a little help from a couple new friends at encore. The concert rocked and I love the new MOJO music. Karma is a wonderful thing and I wish you guys all the best on the rest of the tour. Bucket list item was checked off last night. Tom, you and your band are the most genuine people (rock gods to me) and I really appreciate it. 30 years of being a fan has not failed me. From the crazy dancing blond with the "Damn the Torpedoes" album cover. God Bless and Rock on.

I can't wait to see Tom and the Heartbreakers tomorrow night. I can't get over Mike's guitar playing on this new album. Flippin' amazing. I've seen the guys three times before and each time I've said "best show I've ever seen" and I'm sure I'll be saying the same thing tomorrow night after the show. I just got married this past easter weekend and My wife and I had our first dance to "angel dream" then I surprised her by playing guitar and serenading her "wildflowers" Favorite band for 18 years straight now, and I'm sure that will never change. Love you guys, kick a$$ in Edmonton and on the rest of your tour!!!
