    Budweiser Gardens, London, ONT

Canadians love Tom Petty, and Tuesday night's show at London, Ontario's Budweiser Gardens was proof positive.

All day long, fans lingered outside the arena's backstage gate, waiting for a glimpse of Tom and the band and hoping for an autograph or picture.

Nearby bars and restaurants blasted Heartbreakers' music as fans gathered to meet friends in anticipation of the show. Even the local record shop - Grooves - sold out of all of Tom's music on any format, save for an original copy of the Traveling Wilburys' first record.

Taking the stage just before 9 pm, the guys received a hero's welcome - a standing ovation all the way to the back of the 9,000-seat capacity arena

    - before tearing into "Rock & Roll Star," a song about chasing the rock 'n roll dream. The entire front row sang right along.

"So you want to be a rock 'n' roll star?

Then listen now to what I say

    Just get an electric guitar

    Then take some time

    And learn how to play

And with your hair swung right

    And your pants too tight

    It's gonna be all right"

    Set List:

    I Won't Back Down

Been veryyyy busy since the London Ontario show but had to take a moment to log on and say how impressed I was by Tom and all the Heartbreakers!! A fabulous show that just kept giving and giving. Since seeing the band live ( yes shame on me for taking so long to ever make a TPATH show ) when I hear or play their music it has way more depth and meaning for me. And also hope Budweiser Gardens has them back sometime! Bless and Pray for Peace

I'm still flying from that show!!  The setlist was fantastic!!!  Just an excellent show on every level!!  The band sounded great as always and Tom was awesome, as always!  I thought Refugee was the best I've ever heard it ... Tom put so much feeling into it and Mike peeled off a great ending solo!!!  Those guitars sounded so incredibly beautiful on every song, just mesmerizing to watch and hear them play!!  This was the first time I had a clear view of Steve...man does that guy get a workout!!!   Benmont was outstanding on Melinda!  Ron and Scott were great as well, holding the rhythym. Tom told a little story during Baby Please Go... had us all amused and laughing!  They're all just legendary, great musicians and it was an honour and thrill to see them again!   Get ready for a memorable night Pittsburgh!!

I agree. I drove from Buffalo, NY and the show was worth every mile. The Smithereens were great, too!
