"Melinda" - a track released only on 2009's Live Anthology box set - has quickly become a favorite on the 2013 summer tour.

A slow-burning cowboy love ballad, "Melinda" begins with Tom alone, just his voice and acoustic guitar.

"When I get four hundred dollars

    I'm going to see Melinda

Because I've been working, I've been saving

    for a ticket to Melinda

    And I just don't care

    what you have to say

Because I'm getting up in the morning

And I'm off the see Melinda"

On Thursday night in Pittsburgh, Mike Campbell trickled in on mandolin

    Budweiser Gardens, London, ONT

Canadians love Tom Petty, and Tuesday night's show at London, Ontario's Budweiser Gardens was proof positive.

All day long, fans lingered outside the arena's backstage gate, waiting for a glimpse of Tom and the band and hoping for an autograph or picture.

Nearby bars and restaurants blasted Heartbreakers' music as fans gathered to meet friends in anticipation of the show. Even the local record shop - Grooves - sold out of all of Tom's music on any format, save for an original copy of the Traveling Wilburys' first record.

Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, Manchester, TN

The Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival is in its twelfth year, and the 2013 edition - headlined by Paul McCartney, Jack Johnson (pinch-hitting for a last-minute cancellation from Mumford & Sons) and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers – may represent the best lineup ever assembled by the folks at Superfly and AC Entertainment.

Sunday on the What Stage opened up with a tight set by Lee Field and the Expressions, another in Daptone Records' stable of incredible artists, before giving way to sets from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Kendrick Lamar,

Klipsch Music Center - Noblesville, IN

By population standards, 25,000 people might be considered a big town or a small city, but when the same amount of people stretching back as far as you can see all stand up at the exact same time and erupt in screams and cheers, it sucks all the oxygen out of the space and literally takes your breath away.

That’s what it felt like standing on the lip of the stage Saturday night at the Klipsch Music Center outside Indianapolis when the house lights dropped and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers returned for the first time since 2010.

Connor Enright stood in the alley way behind the Fonda Theatre Tuesday night, displaying no signs of nervousness despite the fact that the 12-year-old Arizona resident was a few minutes from meeting a hero.

The young man and his father, Jason, had driven to Los Angeles from Phoenix to attend the final night of the Heartbreakers' six-show Fonda residency and present Tom with a guitar they built together.

Stepping onto the tour bus, Connor smiled widely as Tom appeared and welcomed him onboard.

On the evening of Saturday June 8, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers were unable to complete their concert at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles due to the Fire Marshal's judgement that the floor at the venue was overcrowded. The interruption of the show occurred 90 minutes into the performance that would likely have continued for approximately another 30 minutes. The satisfaction of fans is of paramount importance to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and the band shares the frustration of the fans in attendance that evening who deserved to experience the entire performance.

    "Well....what should we play now?"

Tom tapped through his guitar pedals, a smile creeping across his bearded face as he prepped for the next song. It wasn't as if Sunday night's show was lacking anything to that point. "Honey Bee" stormed in early in the set, bringing along with it a smokin' version of J.J. Cale's "Thirteen Days" that seemed to pair perfectly with the epic blues rocker "Good Enough." Hearing "House in the Woods" is pretty rare, but getting "Walls" - the single off She's the One - in the same night almost never happens.
