    New Community Area On TomPetty.com
We are happy to present our new Community area which has been upgraded, redesigned and integrated into the rest of TomPetty.com.

Here are some of the key new features the community has to offer:

The new community lets you keep your TomPetty.com display name and community name consistent. Once you are logged into TomPetty.com you are already logged into the community area. No need to have 2 different log in credentials like you do for the old community area.

The new community area makes it easier to share photos and photo galleries. Share photos from past Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers concerts you have attended, of other items relating to the band, and of anything else you think the community will enjoy.

We plan to leave the old boards up for another month. On September 1 we will shut down the ability to post to the old boards. We plan to keep them available as "read only" so you can go back and read all the old posts.

The Community area is free to use - you just need an account. If you do not have one already, get yours here. If you do, log in and join the community!

Hey Stew, I think you missed the point of my rant. It's about the new boards and not "bitching at Tom". You say "1st you win(earn)2 concert tixs". No. First I spent $1,000.00 on 4 tickets to two different shows. I think that gives me every right to say something about the length of the show. I'm not going to repeat what I said so, go back and read it carefully. When you get your degree in psychology, then you can make your diagnosis of me.

Unless the new board comes with a moderator, I really don't see the need for a new board. The old board is heaven for trolls and spammers due to the non-existence of moderation. The new board will turn in to the same cesspool unless the board is actively moderated to delete spam threads and ban trolls by IP address (making it harder for them to simply sign up for a new account under a different email address and continue the spam/troll).

The new boards are way cooler and easier to use than the old ones. Both are good. New one is better. I like that I can be logged in to tompetty.com and I can also be logged in to the new Community area with my same loggin name/password. Nice work TomPetty.com.

We have a new community bulletin board. What was wrong with the old one? It's great that tompetty.com has a place where fans can go and express their opinions, coordinate, and communicate with one another. They also try to communicate to Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and you would think that would be a good way to do it. How else is the common fan supposed to get their thoughts across to a superstar of Tom's stature. I don't think he reads his fan mail. He's gone on record to say he doesn't answer it. So here is the perfect way for Tom and Co. to find out what's on their fans' minds. He can come to HIS official website and see what the masses have to say. I know he's an extremely busy man and he might not even care to get on a computer at all. But, he has assistants and people around him who do. So, why does he not get the message. Why is he charging more than ever b/4 and giving much less. People are paying up to $300.00 a ticket(sometimes more if you get it from a scalper) and they're getting 18 to 19 songs and most of the songs are the same songs he's been playing over and over and over again. At a recent show in Indiana 24,000 people showed up and the band played for an hour and 45 minutes. All those people came from all over to gather in that one spot to see Tom Petty and all he gave them was an hour and 45 minutes. If there's someone on the other side of this computer who communicates with Tom then, you need to tell him that his fans expect more for their hard earned dollars than a short show featuring the same songs over and over. Sure, he should play some of his biggest hits for the people who just came to hear them. But what about the people who come all the time? What about the people who spend the most because, they care the most? The people to whom Petty can do no wrong. Except when he hits them with this stale 1990's set list. I'm sorry Tom but, you owe us more. Don't forget that you work for us. We're the ones who buy your records, CDs, DVDs, and go see you in concert. Nobody wants Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers to become a greatest hits band. WAKE UP!! Find out what your fans want. They are telling you loud and clear but, you seem to be ignoring it. Why am I even talking to you? You're not reading this, are you? I guess that's my point.
