Following chart-topping sales success, and due to the overwhelming support and demand from the Traveling Wilburys fan community, Rhino will release a Vinyl Box Set and Second Edition Deluxe Sets of The Traveling Wilburys Collection on November 20, 2007. The Re-mastered and Expanded Collectible Package features unreleased Bonus Tracks and a bonus DVD featuring a 24-minute documentary including unseen footage of The Wilburys.
Tom Petty has recorded the Fats Domino classic "I'm Walking" for an upcoming charity tribute album due September 25. Other artists who are participating by putting their own spin on Fats Domino hits include Elton John, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Robert Plant and Willie Nelson. The double-disc \"Goin\' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino\" includes tracks like \"I Want to Walk You Home,\" \"Blueberry Hill,\" and \"Ain\'t That a Shame\", with proceeds to be donated to New Orleans public school music programs and to rebuilding Domino\'s Hurricane Katrina-ravaged home.
The Traveling Wilburys\' \"Collection\" (Rhino/Warner Bros.), a compilation of the erstwhile supergroup\'s two original studio albums and other material, enters at No. 1 in the UK Album charts.
The Wilburys\' albums had been unavailable for many years, and the chart-topping debut is aided by a deluxe edition featuring a DVD with videos and a documentary. The achievement is all the more remarkable considering the band\'s \"Volume 1\" album only reached No. 16 in the UK in 1988, while \"Volume 3\" hit No. 14 in 1990.
You can now order the Highway Companion Special Edition for the special price of $21.98! (list price is $26.98!)
The new version of Highway Companion is a leatherette-bound book that includes two postcards and four previously unreleased bonus tracks: two songs, "Home" and "Around the Roses," previously recorded for Highway Companion and Petty's personal demo versions of Highway Companion tracks "Big Weekend" and "This Old Town."
Some of you may have read about the forthcoming release of the book Bob Dylan: "Intimate Insights From Friends and Fellow Musicians" by Kathleen Mackay. Please note that contrary to previous reports the book will not include an interview with Tom Petty regarding Bob Dylan. The advance copies of the book did in fact contain passages taken from the "Conversations With Tom Petty" book written by Paul Zollo, but for contractual reasons these passages could not be reproduced in the Kathleen Mackay book.
